Any referrals or "need to know info" for pup up insurance?

You might not need it.  Auto insurance on the TV would probably cover the camper also when you're towing.  Homeowners insurance when unhitched at home should cover it there.  Don't know about when it's unhitched when you're camping.  I'm sure there's someone else out there who's researched it better than I.

We've got a loan on ours, the credit union requires separate insurance on the camper.  We have it covered with Progressive for their minimum payment of $65 a year.  That also includes coverage on the contents.

I contacted a couple different insurance companies, then I contacted one of the RV insurance "brokers" and they came in with a better price.  I bought throught the broker and the company is Progressive.  Funny thing is, Progressive is one of the companies I contacted.  Progressive through the broker was $60 a year cheaper.

My advice is to contact one of the RV insurance brokers.

We have State Farm Ins. The popup is a separte policy with covers replacement and contents. It runs $6.00 a month.

It's true, the TV's ins. will cover while being towed, and home owners will cover around $1000 dollars if damaged at home, but neither covers the contents, and the $1000 under the home owners doesn't help much. You need a seperate, inexpensive policy for the camper to cover contents.

Progressive, I think 65.00 year sounds about right.

Go with the leader -- State Farm Insurance. I pay $35.00 a year. Can't beat that price!

griffsdad,

Just curious, is that State Farm quote art of your exsiting Auto policy, or is that  a specific policy just for the pop up?

That's a specific policy just for the pop up.

Quote from: griffsdadThat's a specific policy just for the pop up.

Griffsdad, does that include full replacement if the PU get Stolen or destroyed.........Ed C. :sombraro:

griffsdad

Repair or replace, which ever is less minus deductible.

Too cold. My sister, my brother in law, and my niece live in Bristol, Rhode Island. I live in sunny Southern California.  We had our family reunion in Boston in 03. We saw the record breaking game the Sox had with the Marlins. The Sox scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning without recording an out. The next time I was at Fenway was the day after Boston won game 4 against the Cards in the 04 World Series.

Go Bosox!!!!!!!!!!!

I have my homeowners and auto insurance through MetLife.  I called them and they will include the pop-up for $48 per year.  It is only covered when towed by my auto that is covered by them, and is somehow linked to that insurance.

They told me that the pop-up trails whatever insurance the TV has in place.  So if my brother wanted to tow it with his truck, it would only be covered by whatever insurance HE has on that truck.

But then they also asked who would be driving when we were towing the pop-up, and if we were going to loan it to anyone, or rent it to anyone, etc.

Our insurance covers the cost of replacement of the camper, at a prorated value.  Probably not a good deal, but better than nothing I figure.  For $48 a year I figure it can't hurt.
