Just a follow up on how the "new" Porcelain Grills & Griddles performed:
The grills worked okay for burgers.

The griddles did NOT work well at all! Pancakes stuck, eggs stuck, I was ready to use them for anchors! When I cook, appearance is almost as important as taste. Plating mangled pancakes or eggs attractively can not be done!

They both cleaned up easier than the old version of Grills & Griddles that came with the stove.

It's a shame that they are not simply bare cast iron.  Then you could "season" the cast iron to make it non-stick.

You're right! I'm sure seasoned cast iron would be better!
I'm going to email Coleman and see what they have to say about them. The old lighter style, not sure whether they were steel or some alloy, were better in that you could spray them down with oil and nothing would stick!

After using my Lodge Dutch Oven for a couple years, I'm tempted just to buy the fry pans and leave the griddles at home, next to all the other things I've bought that turned out to be "not such good deals"!

I just used my Road Trip Grill for the first time last weekend and didn't have any problems with the grill inserts.  I did spray them with PAM though while cooking.

I purchased off ebay the coleman portable skillet - dh wanted the grill/griddle you referring to but cost wasn't in the budget for the 1st trip out.  The skillet was the best!!  it hooks up to the small tanks (1 lb?) we cooked hot dogs, chicken quesidia(sp), hash and eggs, omlets, to name a few.  easy clean up - the tank lasted until monday lunchtime.  pretty good I thought.  my brother was impressed since he is a huge fan of cast iron.  pretty deep so I could do chili and wide enough that we could split meals - hot dogs on one side and fried potatoes on the other.  very light and clean up was a snap.

There are two types of Grills and Griddles offered by Coleman for the Road Trip Grill!
The ones that come with it (at least mine) are fairly thin, lightweight and coated with a teflon like surface. They are cast aluminum. They cooked great but the coating doesn't hold up well to heavy use.

The ones I'm refering to are offered on the Coleman website, they are heavy, and Porcelain coated cast Iron. Very shiny surface, Nice Job with the Porcelain finish. I have never seen these provided WITH a stove, all the stoves I've seen for sale have the Aluminum Grills and griddles. The 2 grills and 2 griddles that I bought weigh as much as the stove itself.

Too bad that your replacement grill did not work well.  I bought a grill steel teflon coated from Cabela's and I love it.  My family said they were the best pancakes they ever had.  From reading your post though these must be the original grill that you had.

Interesting to see what Coleman says.

I have the non porcelain griddle, grill, and stove top grate, and they all work great. I've had my road trip grill for more than 3 years. We love ours.

I have the Propane Skillet too and also find it very handy.  I do wish that it had higher sides, but it is an ok size.:)

I've had my Road Trip for years and agree that the Coated Aluminum Grills and Griddles work great. THOUGHT the Porcelain Coated Cast Iron would be a nice upgrade, but turns out it was a waste of a $100.00!!!

Have not heard back from Coleman.

Heard from Coleman and they are offering to replace the Griddles as they state they should be nonstick.
Wanted to update you all on this. They continue to stand behind their products.
