I bought a Prime 12volt 8" oscillating table fan on sale for $29.99.  What a piece of junk.  Very cheaply made.  Plugged it in, ran about 15 mins  then started making noise and smelled like it was burning. Unplugged it, it was red hot.  Let it cool down and checked it over.  Wouldn't work at all.  Took it back to the store, they pluuged it in and poof! Smoke poured out and it made a sizziling noise.  They gave me an exchange and I asked them to try it before I left.  The exchange started out real slow and slowly built up speed but wouldn't osscilate. Third fan ran about 30 seconds before it made all kinds of rattling knocking noises and stopped turning.   It went poof before they could unplug it. I told them I didn't care if their policy was echange only no refund, I didn't want the thing.  They took the last one out of stock, tried it and it worked.  It oscillitated, had both speeds, and was relatively quiet.  Got it home where I've had it running right now for about an hour.  The oscilliting feature is getting jerky, and it is definitely getting noisier.  I would never buy one of these things again nor recommend them to anybody.

Never heard of or seen this brand.  What store did you find it in?

Thanks.  You may never know how much money you have saved others (I know, small consolation).

Saw them online, and in a couple of rv centers.  Prime is an established company making fans and heaters for the rail/trucking industry.

I picked one up at Wally-Marts (in the auto dept.), maybe three years ago. Plastic body for the most part; operating quiet is not it's best suit, but overall does a decent job. Think it was something like $9.95 - have since seen some there for around twelve bucks. My idea was that if it lasted a season, O.K., toss it out and get another one. But the thing keeps on keep'in on! I've seen some in the truck stops for $29.95 and at least in the looks department, did not look any better than my Wally-Mart "special". All that crap is now coming to us from the "land of rice ... and everything nice".

What I mainly use mine for is the early spring and late fall fishing trips where it's subject to condensation on the interior canvas. I clamp it to the popup counter, pointing straight up, and set in the oscellating mode and let it sweep the camper interior roof, fore & aft.

At $9.99 I would say OK you get what you pay for and would probally expect something along the lines of what I got.  A regular price of $49.99 marked down to $29.99 is unacceptable as far as quality.  You are right...It's got Made in China on the box and on the base.  Bought a $5.00 oscillating fan from Wally World on clearence today and it works great.  It was also made in China.  It's quiet, has 3  speeds and is 12".  So far has worked flawless.
