Vince,
My wife and I just purchased an 08 Starcraft 3612 in early July.
I have been generally pleased with it, however, there were a couple of issues that I discovered and corrected.
1)  The wiring job underneath is not great.  I found a couple of spots where the insulation had rubbed off and exposed the wire (around the brakes).
2)  The plumbing needed some additional supports.  Some spots were pretty loose, which could have snapped during vibration.
Were these problems enough to discourage me?  NOPE!
I think any company that produces a product on an assembly line type process is going to miss some problems.
When you compare Starcraft with other manufacturers, I think you will be generally please with their quality.
Hope this helps.

I have owned two 1970's vintage Starcrafts - and done alot of work on them.  After re-habbing and using a tiny 1976 Starlette and later selling it, I bought another larger, and older, 1976 Starmaster 6  this spring.  It also needs lots of work.

But  you will see loads of old Starcrafts around - because they were and are a good quality manufacturer.  they are also designed to be maintained and repaired by an owner fairly easily, if you are a bit handy. I like their lift systems, and that they are aluminum and not plastic shells.  That's on the older ones - I think the newer ones are still using aluminum, though.

ANY camper or PopUp is going to be cheaply built - They have to be so that people can afford them.  Think about it - if they were as solidly built as a house, they would be too heavy to haul and too expensive for most families.  Most campers spend the majority of their time being stored, not being lived in.  so naturally, there are going to be some things that will 'shake down'.  If you buy new, that's why you choose your camper more by the DEALER - because you need a dealer you can trust to honor their warranty and have the service you will need.

If you buy used, someone else has worked out the kinks, and your only issue is whether or not they've noticed them and fixed them, or whether you get a better deal if YOU fix them.

No brand is perfect.  But Starcraft is a good one. I'd say your best bet is to find a layout and dealer you like,  and make brand a secondary consideration.  But I do love my starcrafts and would definately buy another!

Excellent choice, IMO there is no better camper or floorplan. I really love the U dinette, cabinet storage and cabinet top work space. The main reasons for going for this camper. The toilet was also a big reason.

My camper is fully loaded which I have the deluxe package and dual propane tanks. The tongue weight was 294 lbs with a full water tank, full water heater, full propane tanks, and fully loaded. This is one of the few fully featured PUPs that a minivan can tow. I also have the heat element in the Duo Therm factory installed air conditioner. The dealer installed the heat element and it's worth every penny.

I really like Starcraft. The Aqualon is tuffer than many of the vinyl coated materials out there. Aqualon is not vinyl coated as the vinyl is actually soaked into the material, plus the material is really strong and isn't easily torn.

Starcraft has a lot of quality build features that aren't apparent in other makes, as a shower drain vent, fresh water tank drain valve that comes out to the side wall, propane steel header pipe instead of brass flex tubing (tubing coming off of header to appliances though), predrilled holes in cabinet and seat structure 1" X 1" so that they don't split, frame has outter C-Channel frame rail "PLUS" inner tubed frame rail compared to others single frame rail of either design, Roof has steel side planks instead of wood so no warping will occur, and fit and finish is the best I've seen on any model.

I feel that Starcraft is the best built Pop Up today. Go a head and look at my sig. pictures to give you any ideas.

I replaced the super heavy duty shower curtain because it was to thick and didn't move easily. I replaced it with 2 Kmart Khaki colored heavy duty vinyl curtains. I also removed the shower towel bar as it intruded into my shoulder space.

Good luck on your decision, hope it all works out for you.

Have a good one.

I also purchased a Starcraft 3612. I was wondering if you were issued a Permanent Trailer Identification (PTI) from California DMV.
