By law officer passed by

:yikes: I would check the actual law or have the officer provide the law to you. I don't understand how the city could enforce any parking restrictions located on PRIVATE property such as your own driveway. The city does not own the property and as long as the popup isn't creating a hazard which had the potential to cause harm to another person or someone's property, I can't see any higher court allowing such a law to be enforced and would bet that any consequences dished out by the city for the violation would be overturned as unconstitutional   .

**edited part**
After reading all of the responses, I am to understand that these bylaws are from a neighborhood association type of setting correct? And that the "by law officer" was not an actual law enforecment officer but a citizen designated to handle such complaints, correct? Did you sign an agreement to such bylaws when you purchased your home? Were these bylaws implemented AFTER you purchased your home? If you didn't sign any agreements to such bylaws when you purchased the home, they  might not be able to enforce the bylaws against you. If the bylaws were implemented AFTER you purchased your home, you should be "grandfathered" in and should not be held to such bylaws. Just something to check out.

Just my two cents.

If the trailer is in "public view" it doesn't matter if it is on private property or not (in most communities), they can complain and the city can make you remove or move it.  This was enacted in many cities to keep junker cars from littering front yards, but many have extended that to include RV's, boats, etc.

Birol, I just wanted to say one thing about the complaint, I think it is terrible that you were singled out, but I really don't believe that it was any of the other pop-up owners that complained.  In our frustration sometimes we start pointing fingers at those around us, but if you were to complain about the others that have them out in their yards you aren't getting the complainer, only neighbors.  I am willing to bet that the "whistle-blower" is as close as a next door neighbor, not much farther.

Great pics of the roof replace! Lee is one talented craftsman.

We just got a notice from the city that the car we had in our driveway either had to be licensed or we would be sited and it would be towed.  I had always thought that as long as a vehicle was private property, it was OK, but we found out we were wrong.

We had purchased a car at a police auction for $50; the only reason being it was a manual transmission and we want the DD's to learn to drive one and felt this would be cheap (it came with a salvage title since the car was taken by the police when they arrested a guy for DUI, and under a suspended license).  He never claimed the car so they had to sell with a salvage title.  We got the title cleared with the state, but since we have to have emissions tested, it failed one part and DH never had the time to really get into it and with no extra $$ we were just waiting to get it fixed.  We have since taken to the shop and told them no rush.

So fingers crossed that it is something very inexpensive...

We have a neighbor who is always trying to find something to get us for.

That is even more BS!! I mean I can see if you have 4 or 5 cars sitting aroung. But 1 freaking car that is not on the road!! Come awn.. Who else thinks our personal rights are getting stipped away by the second??!!  What is next, a ticket for not mowing your lawn on time? Color police if your house is not the "proper color" ?? Maybe they will start to give out fines for your kids toys left in plain viwe of the public in your own yard!!!!!!!!!  :swear:

You're late! It's already happened....LOL  Our subdivision WILL send the association grounds crew to mow your yard and then bill you if your yard gets too high. we aren't allowed to make any changes to the outside of our property without permission...actually from the declaration "No improvements, alterations, repairs, excavations or other  work which in any way alters the exterior appearance of any property shall be made or done without the prior approval of the Architectural Committee".  There are approved colors for everything.. only one type of fence that we can have...."supposed" to get permission to even plant flowers, shrubs, veggie gardens etc.. Most every community in this entire area has the same basic rules so it's not just a matter of moving to another neighborhood.    Sometimes I hate the rules...like when I can't even have my popup at home to load or unload...but with the neighbors I have on one side of me..it's also nice to know someone will be sure the outside of their home doesn't look like the inside!  :yikes:

We have the same rules.  The association doesn't make a big deal out of flower planting, but they could if the neighbors complained!

We do pop our camper up at home after a trip to unpack and let dry, but it's never been for longer than a day and I have spoken with immediate neighbors about this and they have told us it doesn't bother them at all.

I am just curious if this post belongs in the general or campfire forum.

I want to know what people are thinking as it has been moved from the general forum to the campfire forum.  I am not trying to argue, keep that in mind.

Go vote now, and please keep it nice and clean.

Ahh, so you understand.  I've talked to people who say "I'd never live somewhere like that"...well, if you live in many big city areas most every neighborhood is like this....or,the few who aren't...you wouldn't want to be there anyway! LOL

Neighbors would definitely complain if we popped our camper open! They wouldn't be able to park!  ;>

Well, even though I sometimes find it a pain in the butt, I understand it completely.  It keeps the neighborhood liking nice and uniform.  Not that every house looks the same... they don't.  It just keeps everthing in keeping with an overall cohesive look.  It's one of the reasons we choose this area to live in.

We have our own driveways... all single family homes in this neighborhood so popping up in the driveway doesn't get in anyone's way.

Sounds like it is time to move. :)

I choose to live here.  It's a gorgeous area, beautiful homes, nice property, A rated schools, acres of lakes, many parks, outside city limits but convenient to everything!

About 15yrs ago, the company DH was working for was closing their Cincinnati location, and there was a chance he may be offered a job in MD, so they gave us a trip out there it scout out places to live and there was a community we looked at that you did have to get your color "approved", there is also a gated community locally that you have to have the house style and colors approved, also, the lots are kinda small, so there were quite a few who bought 2 lots and wanted to build in the middle, but they weren't even allowed to do that. :swear:
