the post had a sandy grain to it. I do understand that tone of voice is missing in posts, but I wasn't sure about this particular post... Almost gave that person the benefit of the doubt, and left the post. But I didn't want it to rub someone the wrong way, so I decided to delete it

You wouldn't have been the one that rubbed someone the wrong way.  The poster would have been the one.  If no one complains I don't see why a post should be deleted.
