We have freezing fog here too. But how many of you know what a power plant snow is?  If you are wondering it is caused from the steam released from either a power plant or chemical plant. It can put down several inches of snow or make bridges slick in a very localized area. The Charleston WV area has a high consentation of chemical plants and also a moderate sized power plant. Btw the antifreeze (ethelene glycol) that you use in your cars was invented in Charleson WV, although by accident. At one time it was disposed of in a sedelment pond and dumped (yes dumped) into the Kanawha River (prononced Kan-ol-wa). They finally figured out why the water wasn't freezing. Duh. Now they get mad if you dump a gallon down a storm drain.

Quote from: cjpoppinDoes anyone have a picture of Freezing Fog? We get fog so thick in S.Calif. you can't see your hand in front of your face......Now if it freeze's do I need a machete to cut my way through? You must excuse this dumb Ca. lady......We do get snow here in the high desert most every winter......However Freezing Fog is new to me........ :eyecrazy:
No you don't need a machete to cut through it.  It is regular fog, but the air is cold and the fog freezes when it comes in contact with a cold object, like trees along the river, bridges, roads, etc.  There were pictures on the local news channel, but I can't find them on their website.:)
