Quote from: waveryYou'd better believe it....especially at age 13 and with a girlfriend. I wasn't a happy camper :p . My brother was 18 and decided to join the Army instead of going back to Minnesota.

The year that I graduated HS, a tornado hit our home and we lost everything. It was worth it though (to me) because Dad decided California was a pretty nice place after all. We up and moved back :D . By that time, "I" was moving back anyway. It really didn't matter if the family did or not. I moved in with my brother when we got back and got a job at a car dealership.

Not sure what all this has to do with Dockweiler State Beach though, so I'd better get back on topic :D . I'm going over there tomorrow :AM to see if they are surviving the jet noise. HMMMMMMMM!!. Guess I'd better call them to make sure that they are still there :p .

I hope that it's a decent spot because it would be great for those quick getaways for us. It's about 11 miles from us. Then again, Pt Mugu is only 35 miles so it may be a mute point. Dockweiler State Beach would have to be pretty nice to get us away from Pt Mugu :D .
Wayne, if you go tomorrow we won't be there. As much as I'd like to be there tomorrow, our reservations are for next weekend, the 18th-21st.

OOOOOOOPS!! I missed that :eyecrazy: . I don't know why I thought that it was this weekend. That's better for us anyway. :D

Maybe we'll bring our new kayak down for it's maiden voyage :p .

Quote from: BootheBunchHey, Wavery....what high school did you attend?  Were you a Seahawk or a Mustang?  I had wanted to be a Falcon (Aviation), but they closed it the year before I was to attend.  So, I ended up a Mira Costa Mustang.  I have my 20-year reunion this October...don't think I am going to make it.

Ok we just have to get in on this school topic! If you were a "Mustang" then you must of gone to "Begg" for junior high. What elementary did you go to? Meadows?

I just drove by and ate my Arby's sandwitch at the self-serve parking lot, looking out at the waves, right next door!  I didn't see any PopUps at the campsite!

Ahhh, I see you are a darksider, I should have looked for a Jayco TT!

The weather is nice, the jets are sporadic, (about every 15 minutes and not too noisy).  Only a few people on the beach, but alot of people using the bike path.

Dockweiler State Beach Pics are up on webshots.(under Viking28) We had a good time, yes there was airplane noise, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  We met Wavery (Wayne, Carolyn, & Doofus the Bird)  on Friday evening and they ended up getting the site right next to ours, beachside.  The sites were "Parking Lot style" but big enough that we could have the awning out.  We collected  shells and star fish, and did a little boogie boarding, that I'm paying for today.   i think we would go back again.

We had a great time because the company was good. We wouldn't go back to Dockweiler for the CG. However, we would go back for the campers.

I found it quite loud and I had to go out and get earplugs in order to sleep through the 2nd night. My DW didn't have a problem with it, so maybe it's just me. They seem to open up the runway closest to the campsite at night for the "Heavies". It was just to much for me.

On the bright side, Brian and I carried the kayak out to the surf. DW and I made it out through the surf safely and paddled around for a while. The water was a bit choppy but it was a lot of fun and the kayak was amazingly stable and quick. DW did great.

We came through the surf unscathed, which is more than I can say for Brian :p . We were sitting out, timing the waves and watching Brian on the boogie-board. The waves were getting quite large, we decided to hold back and Brian decided to go for the "big surf". All of a sudden, Brian disappeared in a 6 footer and soon after, he came up for air and headed for the beach.

The surf died down and we came in without a hitch. Brian's first words were, "Oh, I'm gonna pay for that in the morning" :J .

This was our first time camping with hook-ups. I guess it's OK if you have a camper with a toilet & shower. For us, we didn't see much difference (except the price :p ).

Dockweiler will go quite a ways down on our "Favorites" list.

Next weekend, we head back to Point Mugu.......YAHOOO!!

You were there in spirit :p .

I heard all about your fire making prowess :D .

When we went out to get ear plugs, we spotted a housebuilding site. The owner was at the property and I asked him if he minded if we took some of the scrap wood. He said, "Sure, take it all if you want". We loaded up the car and took it back to the CG. The first thing out of Brian's mouth was, "Oh boy, Dee wouldn't approve of this" :p

I was quite relieved when you posted, "nice fire .. you do me proud". :D
