At the risk of making myself png (persona non grata ie very unpopular!!)...

You want to keep a PU for 4-5 years....yet you would need to invest about another $800... and at that time probably won't get $2,000 for it...but you will have had the years of enjoyment.

Unless your financial situation is really tight ....sell this one for $1,000 then shop around for a used PU (you should be able to get a good deal) and put this as a deposit on a newer one that has a few bells and whistles and good canvas.  If you stretch the repayment time the payments should be quite low and you will have a better trade-in option.

I bought a new 8-footer in 02 and my payments were $100/month.  With tag/title and the kayak racks it cost me $6,000.  Four year later, how much could I sell it for???  and mine has a/c, 3-way fridge...

I'd keep the old one if I didn't have to invest too many $$$$

Here is the link for the Coleman Lift System Repair manual.  Down load it and read it before you do anything with the whiffle tree.

Well, I just received my estimate from Bear Creek for the 1976 Coleman Gettysburg.

Including delivery charges,it was going to be $750.00, total cost.

Not to bad I guess.

I suppose I need to see if I can get the lift system to operate fully and with ease...if so, I guess I will order the canvas.

Thanks for all the imput for the collective group!

Let us know how you make out with the lift system and the new canvas.:)

sell or not
I look at this way in Houston, it is $450 a week to rent a pop up. I add the time that I plan to camp this season 3 times this summer for me ; that would be $1350 in rental fees so I would replace the canvas @ $750. Also about $2000 is lost on the day you drive off the dealers lot with your NEW PU.  It is your money you make the call.
