Just for some basic information, I googled the tow rating for your 1992 Volvo 240 Wagon.  This is what I found:

I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but it seems to me that if the 1993 had a tow rating, then the 1992 should also have a tow rating.

Thanks to all for your input and responses. I plan to tow our Coachmen Classic,(1800 lb dry weight) with a 1992 940 Volvo wagon with a frame mounted hitch. The info on the hitch rates it's towing capacity at 3300 lbs and a tongue weight of 165 lbs. I have learned from this forum that the tongue weight should be approx. 10% of the gross weight. The coachmen is supposed to weigh less than 2,000 lbs according to the seller. I also have a 1971 F-100 Ford step-side truck with a 302 c.i. engine and only 99,000 miles. Am I safe using the Volvo or should I make modifications to it, vs, using the Ford truck given it has more power, but considerably lower gas mileage? Or, would you all recommend another tow vehicle such as a Jimmy or 6 cyl. Blazer?

I have decided to tow the PUP with the '71 ford truck as towing up the mountains with the Volvo wagon is pushing its limits, especially up the mountain roads. In the meantime I will be looking for an S-10 Blazer with a 6 cyl/4.3 engine to use as a tow vehicle as it can accommodate passengers where the truck can't.
If anyone knows of an S-10 in the Florida/Georgia  area let me know. Thanks,

Congrats on the new pup. As others have said, given the good condition and the price he is asking, you can't go wrong. Let us know how it does when you take it out.
