That is great news.  You must feel quite relieve to know that she is doing well.  When will you get to visit?  I hope you have a webcam and they have internet so you can network with family.

Wow Birol, I'm glad to hear she's doing better.  It sounds like a quick recovery, which is great!  Take care!

Birol, take heart--if your mother is doing this well already, the stroke probably didnt do a lot of damage and she will no doubt recover well.  I am certainly praying that all will go well, and you are in my heart as you try to reach out to her across the many miles between you.

But for sure,  tell her to STAY AWAY FROM THE SALTSHAKER!  Many people who tolerate salt well when younger find they  cannot handle it when they are older and everyone would do well to stop and think of this fact as they load their food with salt.

NightOwl is right.  Added salt is bad for us.  I have seen what it can do to a cell under a microscope.  Salt is already in so many of our foods that once we start cutting back and then eat something salty our tastebuds quickly let us know it.  I pray that your mother will be well and stay well.

She is doing quite well, Thanks God she recovered so quickly ......Talking to her, she is old herself, at least spiritiually, and I don't think I realized and speech problems when we were talking.

As for salt, you are right, I haven't been using adding salt to any food, but I never thoght about the salt in stuff I eat, like pickles, sausage, bacon etc. Now I avoid  those items which has a high salt content, and when something slips bym I know imediately that it has salt. Since i started to watch ready food salt amounts, my BP went down little bit further    :p

Birol, what is the latest news about your mother's progress?  I hope all is continuing to go well.

She is doing (Thanks God) very well for her age, as far as I can understand from speaking to her and what my brother tells me. It is a miracle that she doesn't have any long term effects.

Amazing things can be done when strokes are caught early.  We have a friend who was into having a stroke over a 4 day period....thought he just had a bad headache.  He's just about back to normal, but it was really scarey at first with the temporary paralysis.
