Still waiting for 10 pics to download, but from the ones I've seen, I agree with that it is a little rough around the edges, but still campable.

A few of my suggestions...

looks like the frig is an icebox, so either take it out and make another cupboard or just use it like it is as storage (in our old PU, we used the ice box as storage and worked great.

put a coat of primer on the cabinets and repaint to a lighter color.  It won't seem dreary inside (at least that's how the pics depict it).  If you used white for the roof panels that will also brighten it up.

Seems DW is really starting to come around.

How is Milo doing?

Great pictures of a great camper!  :#  That is going to look SO sweet before you know it.  A little cleaning, some paint, new cushions and some minor repairs and you will be good to go in NO TIME!  :-()

So, is the pop-up's name "Finally" or was that just that you FINALLY got pictures for us to see!?  :D

It has an ice box, which we will use as storage, I am nog going to put a fridge in there, no way ! Too expensive ! We have some nice adhesive backed paper which looks like wood ! We will cover all the cabinets with it. It should make the cabinets look a lighter color. If that fails, they sell rolled sheet veneer at home depot, we will cover them with new veneer, that should take care of the cabinet problem. it surely looks dark :) And looks like according to Cliff, the galley is not even original so no reason to keep an authentic look :)

Roof panels will be white, absolutely no other colors allowed ! If they do not have panelling in white, we will cover it with something white ! ALl the panels have to come down for sure, two (on sides) are damaged beyond repair. While at it, the third one will go too. I will also try to glue the aluminum skin to the foamy thingie above the panels to make it look nice. I will also add two two bulb lights the panels above the dinettes. Maybe three, one over the galley :) Why not, while at it :)  I will install them, cable it reay to be plugged in later on. We will need lights ......I do not want to keep using lanters inside all the time especially if we have electricity available where we camp. That will require a convertor I guess ?

We checked the foam for the dinette cushions yesterday, woosers ! So expensive ! 75 bucks for a 4" thick 50"*60" strip ! No way I said ! We would need 8 of them ! More expensive then the PU ! HA ! We will just wash the foams very well and cover it with new fabric ! Unless someone can tell us where we can get real cheap foam.

Wifey is coming around fast for some reason .... We will see how she will hold out when the time comes to clean the porta Potti  :Z Milo is adjusting well indeed, he started to listyen to us a lot more and is settlign in nicely ... We are glad we have him.

Birol I think your new "casa" is just wonderful! I would bet the old girl could tell some great tales if she could talk.
  I especially like this picture:
Happy Birol and his camper!
You can see the joy on your face. I know we (the PUT folks and I ) are so glad for you. :!

After looking at the possibilities, I agree with angels mom. Either paint the cabinets or strip and revarnish in a lighter would tone. Just my humble  opion- Don't use contact paper. It will not last long and will look bad in a hurry. It fades and everytime it gets bumped or scraped it will nick and peel and you'll just end up fixing the cabinets twice, not to mention having to peel the contact paper off eventually. :swear:
Also, after you fix the ceiling, think about making a gathered valance to go around the edge of the ceiling- that really adds a homey look. My old jayco Pu didn't have one and I got tired of looking a the ugly boards between the curtains and the roof, so I bought some cute cheap material and made some. It was easy and it improved the look a lot.
I also used the icebox the Jayco had to store food stuff - spices, etc and paper plates. Crittters can't get in it as easily as regular cabinets.
Does your wife sew? Can she make new seat cushion covers? It saves a lot of money. Too bad I live so far away, I would love to show her how to do this.
What condition are the screens in? I couldn't tell on some views. A friend of mine had a mouse chew large holes in the screens of her PU. To fix them, she sewed new screens inside the canvas over the old, then cut the old screens away. can't tell from outside they aren't original.
Don't forget to waterproof the canvas before you take her out, even if you are going to replace them next year. To clean them, I would hose them off with water and brush them with a mild very diluted laundry soap (it will help the smell too) let dry completely then, spray with a canvas waterproof product. Do not use scotchguard. Buy a product for canvas and tents. Wal Mart sometimes carries it. or order some from the internet http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=77026
I found this info which could be helpful. It talks about boats but it is still canvas...

Well I think you got a great bargain and will have a terrific camper when you are through! Keep us posted with updated pictures as you fix'er up.
Congrats! :!

I have a question...

Quote from: birolI will also try to glue the aluminum skin to the foamy thingie

Is "foamy thingie" a technical term?  :p

birol

It is that insulating thingie magicie foamy thingy :):):) I do not know what it is called alright ? :) I expect my PU vocabulary to improve very fast though ...

Either you vocabulary will improve or our knowledge of you technical terms... one way or the other, we'll understand each other.:p

Gone-Camping

Birol, I highly recommend that you use flourecent light over the galley, and if you plan to add in a power converter, then use a 12v flourecent so that you can dry camp and use the light on battery power. The flourecent will burn less power from the battery, and last a whole lot longer!!!

Briol.. Don't add a converter, it can be done cheaper.. Get a battrey, use a 12v florecsent roof light, and hard wire a small 120 volt battrey charger to the battrey, All you need is one of those made to maintain a battrey. This will give you lighting all the time. The charger will keep up with the battrey for how little you use it in a 24 hour strech. I find no other use for a converter that can not be made better the way I described. I have a converter, and no way to recharge my battrey except with my TV. This way you will also not have to wire your TV to recharge the battrey. The stick on veneer.. I also don't like it, I do not think it will hold up long at all before it is falling off. Look at the caibnets, I bet you can make new ones with new paneling. They are very simple to make, use the old panels as a template.

Oh yea.. Lee again, but I bet you guessed that, Huh?
