We live in a rural area with a lot of back roads and no lights. Drive to nearest city is 30 miles.

I know what your talking about Gene. I'm almost 32 years old and I've been driving since I was 9 years old.  :yikes: You do the math.

My 18 year old son tells us where and with whom he will be and call when he gets there and before he leaves to come home.He has a curfew and seldom has passengers.
if he misses the curfew I keep his keys one day for each minute past the deadline.
in the two years he has driven he has shown me that I can depend on him to do as he says.
oh yes did i mention doing a random drive by to see if the car was where it was supposed to be.
you do what you are comfortable with and do not worry about what others think.
If others have a problem with your rules then it it their problem not yours
