Please give me some advice regarding a vacation I am planning with my DH, and 2 daughters, ages 7 and 4.  We would like to stay outside of Lake George to avoid the crowds but close enough so we can spend time in the village.  We have never been to Lake George and are planning to stay for 2 weeks.  We are not interested in big Resorts but would like to have some comforts, water and electric.

I found a place in Woodall s " Andirondack Camping Village" .  Has anyone stayed in this campground, if so woud you go again?    If you have stayed in this area at another campground and enjoyed your visit please let us know.

Thank you for all the great information gained on this website.

spiritWe like Lake Luzerne (Forth lake) State Park, but it s dry camping only. It s outside of Lake George village by 10-15 minutes.

Maybe check around Schroon Lake. It s north of lake George a little, but you may find some nice campgrounds there.

Since we live so close to Lake George itself, we don t camp in the area often, except for Forth Lake.

spiritHi we stayed there this summer for a little less than a week. the place was very convenient to the town of Lake George. Probably a 5 minute drive or so. The site was kind of small but that is typical of most private grounds. The pool area was nice.  There were no organized activities that I remember other than a nightly movie. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were pretty good.  I didn t find the owners very friendly but then you don t really need them to be.  I would go back but I think I would try others first.  Be careful of the big expensive resports which we have stayed at also.If you need more info or have specific questions, please let me know.

spiritCrown Point camp grounds just north of Lake George. This site is on the NY state side but there is a bridge there to cross over to Vermont. Fort Ticonderoge is just south. A lot to do and see in the area. Park is primitive, but very nice. Other parks close by on Vermont side has all connivences.
