I used to have a portable charcoal smoker, I think the name was Little Texas Smoker.  It looked like it was manufactured from a 10 lb freon tank cut along its long axis.  Steel wire legs were welded on.  The back edge had hinges.  There was a small chimney on the right side.  It was painted a deep orange.

It only used a dozen charcoal briquests and slowly smoked your food.  The first one I had was stolen off my patio while I was on a business trip.  I liked it so much I purchased a replacement.  That one rusted out some years ago.

I think I purchased the second one at Tom Thumb grocery store in Dallas, TX.  Anyone know where I could get one from a catalog or internet site?

Cabelas has something about the same size in stainless steel but its a little different.

The one from Cabelas is a grill.  You open it and can put charcoal in both halves.  Both halves have a cooking grates.

 RamblingWreckRambling,

This one might be a little large to be considered a portable, but I know they work Ok.

We use the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker @ home.  This one is a tad too big to be considered protable.  There used to be a guy on Pop Up Times board (Tom F. - I think) who was big on the " green egg"  cooker/smoker.

 Hope that helps.

4GalvsWe have a water smoker tucked away under the deck.  It has cooked up some mighty fine eats over the years.  [8D]  Its just not as portable as the little smoker I used to have.  The water smoker also uses a lot more charcoal so a larger bag of briquets needs to be packed.

How are your GSP s doing?  Our GSP s are having a blast playing in the snow.  It has warmed up a little here so their paws aren t bothered so bad when they go out.  All that exercise in the snow is really making their muscles ripple.
