When most of us need repairs,or modifications, done to a pu,we either do the work ourselves,or go to a rv/pu dealer for service.Do any of you utilize independent garages,or mechanics, for the work that you need done ? Any comments on
quality of the work,or cost ?

forestwalkerMy next door neighbor owns his own auto repair business.  He has had a pop up in the past and current has a Class C motor home.  When I got my pop up he stressed the importance of getting wheel bearings packed.  So once a year he packs the bearings, checks out the tires and frame for me.  He is an Interstate battery dealer and his prices for battery and installation was better than the only local RV dealer was asking.  Most everything else we do ourselves.

forestwalkerI m just over the age where you switch from " I m not going to pay to have someone do whatI can do"  to the "  If I can afford it I ll have someone do it for me"
Except when it comes to doing installations on the PU. Had so many done over the years when I wasn t sure how and had to learn how to fix the bungled jobs that I ll do installations myself or if I can t; find someone that will do it with me watching.
Haven t found anything that a dealer could do better than I could and in most cases the manufacturers instructions are easy to follow (except AAR s[&:]) and I end up with a superior installation.
