Anyone have any ideas what would cause the fan to turn on when the thermostat is turned all the way down and the switch to the off possition and the roof down?  The only way I can get it to shut off is by pulling the fuse to the battery.

 Thanks

NickAre you sure it s the furnace fan? Or the fan on the converter? Is the trailer plugged into power?

If the switch is off, roof down, your kill switch is to prevent this also....

Your furnace fan shouldn t run. At all.

I got in the pu and checked.  Its the furnace fan.  I thought the kill switch should prevent that also.  The trailer was not plugged into power either, just batteries.  Can t see in that case why the inverter would run.

NickNo, the converter only runs when plugged in, But why does the furnace fan run? Especially if it s turned off at the thermostat. Weird, I don t know. But let me know when you figure it out.[;)] Now that s a lot of help, huh?

NickMike, there s only s posed to be two switches that control the furnace, the thermostat and the I/O switch on the furnace itself. If the thermostat is turned " off"  and the furnace switch is set to " O" ... methinks you got a short somewhere. Grab a multimeter and see what s hot.

We all know the fan will run after the thermostat has essentially been shut off the furnace, so the furnace can cool down. Might be a problem with that part of the wiring.

Nick

Ab DiverThanks for the suggestion Dave.  I ll give it a try this weekend.  Now I need to find a wireing diagram for my trailer.

NickMike, I have a Jayco Qwest 10 and I noticed that the fan on the furnace was running one day! There is a switch on the bottom of the thermostat that is " supposed"  to shut off power to the thermostat and furnace, however on mine if you don t get it in exactly the right position it doesn t kill the power to the blower! It sounds like they got a bunch of defective thermostats in. I blamed mine on the fact that the furnace was added by the dealer and they didn t wire the thermostat right, at first!
If the fan comes on, crawl in and try fiddling the switch back and forth until it cuts off the fan! Hope this helps!

NickI know on a Coleman, It s a pretty hard " click" . Maybe it s just not turned " off" ?

garym053

NickMine is hard to click too, and maybe I caused the problem by clicking it TOO far! That was my first thought until someone else in a Jayco had the same problem! I don t know whether it was my fault or defective, I just know that now I have to be very careful about the position of the switch!

NickAny one solved the hard click issue successfully?  I keep thinking I am going to break it every time I want to turn it off!

Tentcamp

NickMe too, thats my biggest fear that it will break off.  [:o] I thought it would get easier the more we used it but it hasn t.

NickTechgizmo, replaced his with a digital one from Home Depot. You can see his webshots page [link=http://community.webshots.com/album/50749713FPaWOd]Here.[/link] Looks pretty slick.

I called HD, They have a LUX brand, that doesn t require a memory battery. It s for A/C and Heat. But you can just wire up the 2 " heat"  wires. It s also a low voltage thermostat, so it should work fine.
