Well, It s snowing again here in West MI, and it s gonna be another cold night.  I for one am getting kinda sick of it, and it s making me sort of grouchy.  I ve noticed some other threads on this forum that are getting a little on the touchy side, too.  Maybe Dave should look into offering some kind of sun lamps or tanning beds in the store to try to chase away these winter doldrums.  In the meantime, lets try to remember that we have a few more months of winter in the northern states, so we ll be acting kind of stir crazy for a little while yet.  Give us a bit of a break if you think we re getting out of hand, and maybe give us a little laugh while you re at it.  And you folks in warmer areas, our crankiness must be rubbing off on you, as  I ve noticed a little snappishness from a few of you too.   We ll try to do our best to nip it.   I for one am going to stop worrying about the fact that we can t camp right now, and I m not gonna torture myself over whether we really have 500 members or not.   I m gonna  roll with the flow  as they say, and try to relax and enjoy the pleasures that this board is giving me, while I try to ignore some of the pains that it s producing in certain areas today too.   Might be a good night to over medicate or otherwise mellow out.

 wiininkweBeer, tons of beer :)

Miller Tyme

wiininkweTry going through the rest of this winter being laid off, while my boss takes his family to Jamaica.[:@](Well, maybe not the rest of the winter, but at least 3 wks.)

I think I need one of those beers.[;)]

birol

wiininkweMiller Tyme, this is my second winter while being laid off  [>:] Beer actually doesn t help much  but oh well. Cheers buddy [;)]

Miller Tyme

wiininkweThanks, birol, I m just having one of those days. Like Toni, said, it s cold, snowy, (last week we had a thaw which got my spirits up) and dreary, and now the lay-off. I m used to early spring lay-offs, but my boss....all I can say is I better get all my days off for camping that I requested..[;)]

NightOwl

wiininkweMy gosh, Jim--I just noticed WHERE YOU LIVE!!   No wonder you are ticked off with your boss for taking his family to Jamaica while you are laid off and stuck in the land where the sled dog is king.[: (]  I think a lot of us feel the same way.

Usually North Ga winters are clear and sunny and many days it gets into the 40 s and even the 50 s.  This year it has been raw and grey and rainy and sleety and even when it gets up into the 40 s and 50 s it doesnt feel " nice"  at all.  We are due to have freezing rain today and it makes camping season seem a looooong way off!

I miss the ice fishing and cross country skiiing and snowshoeing I used to do in Michigna--at least  all that snow and ice gave you something fun  to do outdoors in the winter.

wiininkweWhen I got laid off , my boss s boss was throwing a huge house warming party in his spanking brand new 6,000 SQ feet house sitting in a huge lot and invited all the people who were let go.

It drove me mad that he had the guts to do it before we were completely cut off from the company. I am not wishing very positive thinks for him .........

ForestCreature

 wiininkweCabin Fever!!! thats an understatement!
 I NEED TO CAMP SOON
The smell of the campfire, sun shining on your face in the morning, the breeze blowing thru the trees, birds chirping, blue skies,  the dark star lit night skies.......can spring please get here soon!
The van is still packed and ready to go, first decent weekend and we are gone!
Here we haven t had alot of snow, but its been so gray and cold enough is enough!
We do have a little sun today at least.
Being home and unemployed is not fun, wasn t bad in the summer tho. My temp layoff  in June turned into a permanent one. So here I am riding out the unemployment storm too, with many of you.

birol

wiininkweI was looking at the trlrboys camping pics, I wanna camp too boooohhhoooooooo.

The lake, the trees, it looks so serene, so peaceful. I want to take a walk in the forest, play with my children in the lake, BBQ and drink beer [:)]

Miller Tyme

wiininkweThanks for all the encouraging words from you all.
Get this-the boss called this morning. He s got a couple side jobs-about two hrs worth of work each-tomorrow. 40 mile round trip@$1.74 gallon of gas. What he s worried about is his unemployment payment to the gov. next yr. " It keeps going up, blah, blah, blah..." [:@]
He did say he had a great time up north snowmobiling..[:@]
Sorry, venting again. I ll get over it-eventually.[;)]

birol

wiininkweAre you gonna do it ? 60 km s at 1.74 a gallon, only for two hours ? those two hours had better be compensated at a professional rate, not at 5.75 an hour !!!

Miller Tyme

 wiininkweBirol-
Yeah, I m the foreman($13 hr) which sounds like a lot, but I also have three child support payments, plus bills, repairs to the truck, etc. It adds up, not to mention the state takes half the unemployment check for child support,[:@]

Acts 2:38 girl

wiininkweMaybe we should try this, it really works for my 3 and 4 year old.  When cabin fever gets to be to much, jump up - start screaming at the TOP of your lungs, and tear circles around the house!  It really seems to relieve a lot of tension for them! [:D]

Gamecock Camper

wiininkweIn the infamous words of Jimmy Buffett s song (Boat Drinks)....

 " .... this morning,
I shot three holes in my freezer.
I think I have cabin fever..."

Maybe a " Boat Drink"  would help.

Camperroo

wiininkwehere s a little ditty my 9 yr. old came home with today.  He was told to write a limerick in english class...it s cute so it should bring a smile to those with winter doldrums!

There once was a man who wanted a tan
So he went to the beach and layed in the sand
He came home and was burnt as toast
All his friends said he looked like a roast
So the man got what he wanted, a tan!
