Wow, I just bought a new 2003.5 Utah CP (Cassette Potty) PU. I am coming out of a 1974 coleman brandywine. It was in great shape, but with my family growing I needed the space. I am really pleased with the overall build quality, and very excited about the new Aluma-Tite Roof.

I have the Hot Water Heater, AC, Factory Furnace, Cassette Potty, Outside shower, Fridge, double awnings w/screen room, Yakima Bike racks.

Any others with Utahs with comments or suggestions??

 RadeHi,

Congratulations on the new camper!  I m sure you re going to love it.

We have a  01 Utah and are very pleased.  I did add a permanent indoor bathroom with shower to ours - we ve got three kids under four and NEED it.

Feel  free to take a look at our pictures on Webshots.  We ve made a few other small additions to it and you may find something interesting.

 Good luck!

RadeCongratulations on your new PU!  [:D]

RadeVery nice camper.  Did you just decide to buy it?  Did you go to an RV show and get the deal you couldn t turn down?  Inquiring minds want to know more about how you made the decision to buy a newer and bigger camper.

Rade

RadeWell, why did I buy it? I bascially " inherited"  the  74 Brandywine (10  box) and have camped it with my family the last 4 years all over the states. We have enjoyed it so much, and have found that RVing is such an economical way for a family to vacation/family weekends.

I looked at other brands, namley a viking. But after attending a RV show where I could look at all the brands together I found the Coleman to be the best build quality and the best floor plan for my family. As I mentioned before I really like the new aluminum roof design.

I hope that my new Utah will give me years of service with good care.

RadeCongratulations on the new PU.  I hope you enjoy it as much at your old one.

RadeA  74 Brandywine? Wow. We, also, have just purchased an  03 1/2 Utah. My question to you is what special steps you took with your old PU to have it last so long?

Any other replies on tips for longevity would be appreciated. You know, those things that the dealer didn t you.

RadeThe 74 Brandywine secret to a long life was (and is) keep her out of the direct sun when storing it and treat her gingerly. My grandfather was the orginal owner and whom I inherited it from, always emphasized to keep it waxed and clean and never overlook a item that needs to be repaired.

And to be honest, the entire exterior is aluminum. Not much to deteriorate. The paint actually only looks a couple of years old. The entry door is just like the Grand Tour/Elite trailers today only a bit heavier.

Its been a honey, and I will miss the 4 burner inside stove with huge oven!!

RadeHiya Rade, and congrats on the new pop-up! Double awnings, eh? Cool.

 Ok, bad pun.[;)]

Look at it this way, no reason to miss the 4-burner stove, cuz now you have a 5-burner stove (it s just in two locations). And I m betting that Coleman has an oven in a pop-up again within the next few years. It s just too neat of an idea. And with Starcraft offering one now...

Of course, you do know the deschnitzificating *has* to start soon, don t you? It ll happen like this: You ll start slow with a simple, harmless mod like adding stick-on levels to the side of your trailer. But then you ll move on to harder stuff, like rerouting drain lines and making better storage solutions. Oh, you ll deny it at first, hoping family and friends won t notice your problem. But sooner or later somebody s going to catch you in the act-- taking notes on a napkin at a campground as you spot a creative gray water system. Face it, sooner or later you ll be a modification junkie. You ll need your " fix" , just like the rest of us.

Sorry, but there s no escape. Your only hope is to seek repetitive treatment here on PUT. We ll be here for you, and we ll get through this together. I promise.

RadeCongrats on the Utah! That is a great unit!

I grew up camping in a Brandywine, and loved it. They were nice, but HEAVY. Our  79 Buick LeSabre always sat down low when we were towing. Do you have any pictures of it? I d LOVE to see it again.
