QuoteI just want to express my disappointment in the way some members responded to this post. While you may not have agreed with Bearbait, he does have the right to ask critical questions. It is only through open and honest communication as well as looking at ourselves in the eyes of an outsider that we will be able to improve the board and make it more inviting to new members.

The comment was made that this was just like high school, and I have to agree. When things were said that some did not like they just began talking about anything other than the subject at hand, trying to drown out other peoples opinions.

IMHO this is a very sad day for this board

I would have to agree. The reason I  come to this board is because of the comradery. sp.  I have visited other sites and have found them to be very hostile.

I too think I ll take some time off.

bikoleeI would ask that anyone with comments regarding this please take it to e-mail and let me know that way.

We really need to let the emotions die down a little.

 Thanks

NightOwl

bikoleeof course you are both right and I apologize for  whatever part I played in this mess.  as several have said, we are really suffering cabin fever and need to go camping.  I d delete all  my later posts if that thread wasnt locked[:(]

I had to no intenion of offending anybody, but obviously I ended up doing that without realizing it at the moment.

I apologize to the people whom I offended, and to the board in general.

I only have the best interest of the board in my mind, and I should have known better and stop.

NightOwl

bikoleeBirol, I fear some of the rest of us may have led you astray.

 I think  I will stick to limericks for awhile dedicated to things like Birol s tent or the snow in Wreck s  front yard[;

But I think I am  also one of those who can use  little vacation time away from the board

bikoleeWOW  everyone what is happening with the spirit of the board??  Please don t take people s topic s so personally...please don t comment on people s individual comments instead focus on the original question and answer from your own heart without hurting someone else in the process or taking the attack mode.  We all know my own thread apparently went extremely ugly...though thankfully I didn t witness it..but it should never have in the first place.  Bearbait s thread was only bringing up a question and throwing it out there for everyone to think about.  I sure don t feel anyone should be made to feel they should take a break from the board.  I almost felt this myself but people such as Bearbait and NightOwl and many others took the time to be kind and supportive, decent and respectful.  That s what I thought this board was pretty much made up of anyway...which is why I came back here and signed on to the paid site.  There is alot of ugliness at other forums, it hasn t been here, but it is creeping in.  This stuff should not be reduced to a personal level where people feel they have to rip apart or embarrass someone else just to get their own point across[:(]  These topics are not contests to show who is more superior in knowledge or might...they are only meant to open up discussion and exchange ideas, not everyone is going to agree, but disagreement can be done in a way where civility and courtesy can be maintained so as to continue the process of interesting discussions.  It s ok to agree to disagree...it s just all in how one does it.  Sometimes restraint is a wonderful thing.

I hope we all remember that PUT is a unique community and continue to maintain that in all we do and say and contribute.

Let s bring back the decency and kindness this board has always been known and respected for.

bikoleeOk, I ll have to chime in here with a confession of my own.  When I first read Bearbait s comments I looked past the constructive and thoughtful observations and went right to the tone of it all.  I don t want Bearbait to stop posting at all.  I really think that if his comments were posted using a different tone or with suggestions that it wouldn t have been as nasty.  I even responded with a knee-jerk reaction that I know that I shouldn t have.  I owe an appology to Bearbait and anyone else that I may have offended, but I will continue to welcome comments that offer food for thought that will help us all improve this board.

I guess in the end we really are like a family.  Even families have bad days, and that was a low day for me and for others here.  Now that I ve slapped my wrist, I m ready to move on and have learned alot about how I should not just fly off and type the first things that come to mind when I get wound up........

Now if this weather cooperates, I ll be camping in about 8 days.... Yipeeeeeee.  That is what I really need.

bikoleeHey Bearbait.  Why did you edit your post in this thread to be blank?  I thought you had some nice things to say and to explain your " other"  post.  I saw it, read it, and really appreciated it.  So why?
