 I just bought one of those mini air compressors. It has a gauge 0-250 psi and a cigarette lighter plugin on a 10  power cord. My thought is to have it with me and if a tire goes low I can use it to buy time until I could get it fixed. I have no idea if they work well or if I wasted my money, but it was on sale for only $7.00 at Meiers. Its very compact and lightweight. Anybody ever try one?

 cpineI have one in every vehicle I own. They work ok but don t expect to pump up a completly flat tire very fast. They will pump it up but it takes a bit of time,afterall just look at how big that compressor really is.

 cpineI agree, I always have one in the tow vehicle.  But as rccs states, they can be slow.  All real work is done before towing withe the big compressor in the garage.

 cpineI have one too.  It takes some time to fill a car tire, but it can.  For $7 you can t go wrong.[:)]

 cpineEspecially when you go to change a tire on the PU and you find the spare you forgot to take the cover off and check is flat.[:o] The may be slow but they sure as heck beat the alternative. " How far did you you say that gas station was? I wonder if they re open?"

 cpineThe reason I got one is because I want to keep the PU tires at the recommended pressure, about 50 pounds--COLD.  First time I went to do that, I had to drive to 4 different gas stations, pay 25 cents at three of them, just to find out that they topped out at about 40 psi.  Now I can check them when I pull out of the garage, pump them up

COLD and know that I can get them to the correct pressure before I get on the road.
 
 Slow--yes, but much quicker than trying to find a gas station that has an accessible air compressor that will pump to 50 psi.

 cpineA word of caution - many small compressors work OK - but, they may burn up if run over 10 minutes before allowing the motor to cool off - I know from experience - tried to top off several trailers and mine burned up.  Suggest reading the instruction before using (not usually a man thing to do) , which I did not do.

 cpineI ve got a Sears portable-rechargable compressor.
 It has a 250# psi limit, a 12-volt plug (for spotlights, cellphones, etc.), various adaptors for air matresses & inflateable toys, built-in guage and is completely portable.
 Takes about 10-12 hrs. to recharge the battery on AC, about 3 hrs. to recharge in the car while driving.
 Have used it extensively to top off the cars  and the camper s tires - most of all I like to go deer-shining at night, so this thing is great for it!!

 cpineYou can t beat one of those portable compressors. Beats the heck out of a manual pump. Unless you can get the kids to pump it for you. That is.
