 Hi All,

Have a question for you, I have been debating on pulling the trailer out of the storage lot and bringing it home. My first trip is the first weekend in April. The problem is that there is about 12-18 inchs of snow, hard pack stuff now around the trailer. They do not plow the lot so I have that to deal with also. I know I can get it out but will I damage it?

whitestar505Snow?  Ohhhhh, Snnnoooooowwww....I remember that stuff....it s white and cold and turns into water when it melts, right? LOL

whitestar505Two years ago when my husband pulled ours out of the snow the thing over the outside light came off.  The PU was still under warrantry so it was replaced free. I suppose other similar things could also come off. I had begun the winter by shoveling it off every time it snowed and leaving a path for myself but it eventually got too much for me.

whitestar505Do you know anyone that would be willing to plow at the storage lot? Or have you asked the owner if he could get someone to plow for a few extra bucks?

Our camper is parked at home, but with lots of snow infront of it. Our first trip isn t until May, but we re considering getting a plow in there and move it out onto our driveway.

I d be hesitant to drag it over hard packed snow myself.

 Good luck!

Well, it is stored on a Military installation,  I think don t they would like that. I am going to go see what they will do for me today. I do pay to store it there...

whitestar505Definitely check with them. I would be very concerned about damage to the underside of the camper. Hard packed snow is nasty!

Good luck and let us know how you made out.

I m in the same position as you are...we need the pop up to trade it in for our new hybrid.  Just like yours, our pop up is under a couple feet of snow.  We thought of pulling it out early but between getting stuck and damaging the camper, we ve decided to wait a few more weeks...and it s killing me!  I want my new hybrid!  Let me know what you decide and how it turns out.

 kathybrjkathybrj ,

Well, they tell me they are going to plow the lot today. Snow plow has been broke down and in the shop. So we will see.

whitestar505I would wait.  I wouldn t want to take a chance of damaging the PU.

whitestar505packed snow is like ice can cut the belly of your tank! and the hoses, i would wait, you don t need it for a month and a half, by then the snow will be gone, and with this weather your not going to be able to work on it much, too cold outside. so wait a bit longer, and look at your camping pics, and videos a bit longer[;)]

whitestar505I can tell you what happened to my popup one year when I decided to pull it out from it s winter spot.  The tires had frozen to the ground and when I pulled it out, it tore the tread clean off of one of the tires.  Time for new tires!  I didn t know they had frozen or I would have waited longer.

whitestar505Snow? Whazzat?  All we ve seen in 6 years in Austin, TX is a bit of ice.  Mud now...I got stuck in the wet grass that turned to mud as I was trying to pull the trailer out of the back yard to take it to our friend s garage for storage until the next trip...got around to the side of the house and the truck just stopped.  Shoved boards under the tires, that didn t help.

Finally got the wife to pull ol  Red out with her little Rodeo from the street.  What a mess I made of the yard.  Bleh! [: (]

kathybrjWe are still waiting to be plowed out. If there a few more good day of sun we will not have to worry about it..

whitestar505

whitestar505Well, the lot has been plowed but we have another problem. This problem is mud up to the fenders. It is raining and the water has no where to go. Do we wait for a freeze to pull the trailer out. The snow is still there, not as much, and it is softer than hard pack. [:@]
