I am looking for help finding a fan to use for summer dry camping that will move alot of air but not drain my battery.  I am afraid that if I use my box fan with a ac power converter that I may drain my battery too fast.  (If this is not a problem using the converter and box fan for a 2 day trip, please let me know)

I have seen the 12v box fan " Endless breeze" , but it seems very expensive ($75).  Does anyone have one?  Seems like a powerful fan.

 Thanks for your help![:)]

JonesFamilyJaycoFunny you should post this.  I stopped by the PUT office today (first time in a while) and Dave had one of these fans on his desk.  While I didn t get to turn it on, it appears well made.  As it is made by the same company that makes the best roof/fan vents going it will probably work great.

Dave said it should be avialable in the PUT store soon.

JonesFamilyJaycoWe bought on of the 6"  oscillating fans from WalMart (automotive). Cut off the lighter style plug and replaced it with a 1/4 phono plug from Radio Shack. For $10 it works real good moving air around the bunkend or in the screenroom

JonesFamilyJaycoThank you Jaycocamper!  I have looked at how to use one of the phono plugs to operate a fan like you described, but I am not sure how to do it.  I asked an assistant at Radio Shack & they were not sure.  Do you take a phono jack that is attached to a cable or does it take a special jack.  Seems like I bought a jack with a cord & when I cut the cord to splice the wire, it only had a single copper wire (could not splice to dc cord of fan).  Any help you can give me to figure this out would be greatly appreciated!

 Thanks

JonesFamilyJaycoIf you go to Radio Shack, they should have one of the following catelog numbers.

 1.  Number:  274-1536 (This is the solderless 1/4 Plug which can be
(2/$3.99)        attached directly to the ends of the wire.)

 2.  Number:  274-266 (This is the solderless 90 degree 1/4 plug which can be
($2.99)              attached directly to the ends of the wire.)

 3.  Number:  274-254  (This is the solder connector for the ends of the wire.)
                     (2/$3.99)

Buy the fan, cut off the cig lighter end and replace with 1/4 plug.  This should then plug directly in the socket on the light (if you have one there).  Check and let me know.  If you don t have one, I ll get some pictures together and show you how to do it.  REMEMBER: DC power is one way.  If you connect it wrong, the fan will run in reverse.

 Good luck.

 JonesFamilyJayco???Question???[:o],

...and when you turn it on and the fan is running backwards, you know you have the wires on wrong?  Do we need to know which wires go where or is it trial and error or doesn t it matter[:D]?  Thanks in advance for your help![:D]
