We revisited one of our favorite parks last weekend, arriving at S. Llano River SP on Thursday.  It s off I-10, near Junction, at the western side of the hill country.  This park has it all...58 electric/water hookups, a river for swimming/tubing/paddling (there are outfitters outside the park, and the park can recommend several shuttle services).  Big pecan trees, lots of oaks, cactus, cotton woods, maples near the water, and mesquite.  Deer and Rio Grande turkeys wander through the campgrounds.  The Buck Wildlife Mgmt Area is adjacent to the park, and has trials for hiking and biking throughout it.

This was our first time there in the camper, and first time bringing our bikes.  We had a wonderful time.  The weather was perfect...70 s during the day, low 60 s at night, sunny.  The trees are changing colors.  We saw red tailed hawks flying above, and roadrunners on the ground.   Bicycling through the WMA was fun, especially coming down the hills (going up was tough).  Be careful biking the hills, though...this is very rocky and rough terrain, not for kiddies.

We had a *fantastic* four day trip.

RedwolfI spent a few days there at S. Llano a couple months back.  Weather was perfect for January... sunny and 60 s.  I took tons of pictures.  Check these out...  [link=http://community.webshots.com/album/59705977vgOuae]SOUTH LLANO SP[/link]

Turn Key

RedwolfOne of my favorite places!  Was there again last spring for a week and loved it.  One of the best parks in the system.
