I took our 1998 Coleman Sun Ridge PU to the local Coleman repair facility for repair when the lock bars would not come out of the door to close.  The dealers repair bill listed--pulled lock bar out and pushed hole in--which I think translates to elongating the hole.  The door is closable now but I m concerned the door will open on the road as the bar only extends on one side about 1/4 inch.  I thought I had read a thread in The Mr Fix It but I have went through all 80+ pages without finding--If anyone has experienced a problem like this and has found a solution I would certainly appreciate your help.

Beavis & AceI agree with your concern.

I have not had repairs on my stepper door, so no first hand experience there.

If you " paid"  for this repair (cash or warranty) I would take it back and make them fix it to factory specs.  Both bars should engage and more than 1/4 inch.

 Good luck

Beavis & AceI had that problem with my trailer in 2001.  The dealer fixed my door, so I don t know what they did.  The latches come all the way out just like before.  I know they took the door apart to fix it.  I would not be happy with the fix you received.  Good luck.

Beavis & AceI m getting ready to take mine in to get the stepper door fixed. I accidently messed ours up pulling my brother s trailer around my camper. Forgot to push the stepper door up and the trailer tire started pushing into the step, then over before I could see what it was doing. The door is pushed more to the right and latches just barely on the left. It holds okay and I was afraid of the door popping open on the way home. Haven t had a problem with that, but I ll feel better once it s fixed.

Beavis & AceWhen the stepper door is closed and the roof is down, it s almost impossible to open the door without lifting the roof up. Of course I d rather err on the safe side. Last summer, my door latch bar got jammed inside the door and I couldn t latch it closed. The roof kept it closed, but we kept a close eye on it during the trip.
In order to repair it, the pop rivets that hold everything together had to be drilled out, and replaced after repairs were done. All in all, it was a very unpleasant job.
Maybe that s why they did the job as described.
