Just had our first trip there this weekend.  They have 63 campsites in the main area with water and electricity.  The main area has sites right next to the beach and some facing a salt marsh.  The rest of the sites are a stones throw away from the beach but you can hear the pounding of the surf without any problem.  Although the sites were described as on the small size, we found them to be pretty private because of the way they faced.  They also have 28 campsites with water and electricity in the Live Oak Camping area.  We were unable to check this area out however.  There were two heated bathrooms with showers in the main area.  Both kept very clean.  There is a four mile hiking trail near the Live Oak area.  The beach is long and great for shelling.  There were dolphins swimming just off shore.  The camp host had a pop-up.  Many of the campers this weekend were in pop-ups.  As with most beach campgrounds, there is not a lot of cover to protect you from the sun although the interior sites were heavily shaded with palmettos as were a couple of sites on the beach.  Dogs are allowed but need to be on a leash.  There are no reservations accepted and the park ranger said that people line up a 6:00 AM beginning in April to get a site.  The dump station is so far away you have to drive to it.  There is a grocery store within walking distance and also a restaurant.  We paid $21/night but the rates go up April 1 - Nov. 1.  This is a really lovely campground and located near Charleston.   If you get a chance, come visit.

slowpezEdisto has been on our A-list of parks to visit since we got the pop-up, and I was so glad to see your review! Sounds like just the kind of park we d enjoy.  I was all ready to make reservations, when, oh no! They don t take reservations!  Too bad about that; I doubt we d drive all that way (from AL) with no guarantee. How disappointing! [:(]

slowpezKon Tiki, if you plan your trip before Easter and during the week, you shouldn t have any trouble getting a spot at Edisto.  The weekends are the worst times especially after Easter through the summer and I imagine that most beach campground are hard to get into then.
