I thought that those poor souls who are snow bound might enjoy a little camping fix by reading about our trip last week.
We left last Friday and headed to Bastrop S.P.(TX) We got there about 7 pm and set up camp with the basics(it was dark) with McD s for supper. Next morning on Saturday, we finished camp by putting up the table canopy-rain was in the forecast.
Of course that was after a pot of coffee and a newspaper from the ranger station.
Had to make a trip to the local Wal Mart for food items. I hate to drag a ton of food from home when we can buy it on location and save on weight. The rest of the day we sat and relaxed, reading and going for walks. The temps were in the upper
60 s. We were camped along side my SIL and her family. We had chicken and dumplings for supper. (I made them at home earlier that week and froze them).
Sunday, we went hiking on the great trails in the park, had fajitas, pico de gallo, and guacamole for supper.
Monday, all the girls went to Austin, Tx(30 mi) to shop, the men stayed in camp and barbecued and drank beer. It was supposed to rain but instead the sun came out and it was a gorgeous day in the 70 s.
Tuesday, more morning coffee and taquitos for breakfast. Went driving around sight seeing. The park is in an area of tall loblolly pines, oak trees, and hills, very pretty country. Took a nap in the afternoon, sat around the campfire at night roasting marshmallows.
Wednesday, after coffee and breakfast, went to some antique stores in the historic part of the town of Bastrop  and browsed around then went back to camp and spent the rest of the afternoon in the hammock reading my trashy novel. Grilled hotdogs for supper.
Thursday, packed and left for home at noon. Sniff!
We had some foggy mornings and some misty rain on occasion but over all the weather was nice- not too cold, not to wet.
Can t wait until Easter weekend and four more days of camping, weather permitting.
You can see my photos of this trip on my web page in my signature.
May you all be blessed with camping weather soon![:)]

StarryartThe last time we were at Bastrop we stayed in #17 and liked that little loop a lot.  We hiked the trail that starts at the end of the pull through loop all the way up to the scenic overlook and walked back down along the road.  I think Bastrop is just great.  Nice pictures you posted too.
