Anyone ever loose the door on the stepper door lockable storage box?  We were out this weekend and noticed one of the hinges had broken free, but the door seemed to stay in place when locked.  When we arrived home the door was gone!  Amazingly enough, the crank handle and tire iron were still in there.

I am wondering if this is a service part that can be ordered.  Is there such a thing as a camper junkyard that might be accessable on the web?

TheWallRocksYet another thing to inspect and put on my checklist.  Thanks a lot, lol!
Sorry to hear about yours.  Probably not covered under warranty, but I m sure you already guessed that.

TheWallRocksI m sure it is a part you can order, just remember to also order teh lock - it s probably a separate part number.

I was surprised to discover how inexpensive some Coleman parts are when I ripped the back bumper off the Santa Fe.  I thout that would be at least $100, but was surprised to get everything I needed for $40.

I d give your dealer a call first.

TheWallRocksHaven t had any problem with the door but to honest, I don t use the storage area. Never figured out what to put in it as it isn t waterproof. Although once I had a campsite neighbor that I would have like to stuff in it but that a story for a different post.

TheWallRocksMy 1987 Coleman had clips that held the crank in place in the storage space.  I keep a couple of pieces of wood there.  I forgot about the wood and had to see if anything was in there.

TheWallRocksAlmost did had the same problem this weekend. Open the door and forgot about it. Pushed it in the garage and missed ripping it off.

Was wondering what to use it for. Noticed that it was open some in the back. Things I am sure would get wet. WHAT DO YOU STORE IN THERE?

Where did you go this weekend being from Michigan ?

TheWallRocks

TheWallRocksI was surprised, but I was able to order a replacement door and lock.....$44 including tax/delivery.  Not too bad I thought.

I store the crank and tire iron in there.  Actually that s where those things were stored when I purchased the PU so I never moved them.  The front compartment would make a lot more sense!

As for camping this past weekend, we went to the Ludington State Park.  We had a " river-front"  site because the melting snow created river-front sites EVERYWHERE!  It was great to get outside again, and it sure was warm.

TheWallRocksI opened it once.  Nothing was in it.  I closed it and haven t gone back.

TheWallRocksI keep blocks of treated wood that I use under the stabilizers and the stakes for the awning.

TheWallRocksOK, I put the excess 3 Lynx Levelers, and a piece of 2x4 in there, and filled it up.

These levelers became  excess  after leveling my BiL s Class C, and they shot out with more pieces than they went in with in.  (Thumbs up to the Lynx leveler people, they replaced 4 of them (4 were damaged), no questions asked.)

I would have liked to have put my aluminum framed fishing net in that compartment, but it wouldn t fit.  Or my grey water hose, but it wouldn t fit.

Campaholics

TheWallRocksWe keep the chocks in the stepper door compartment.

The hinges was stiff from the day we bought it.  After a couple of weeks one broke off.  After pop riveting them on, a couple of squirts of spray white lithium grease, and they are good for the season.

TheWallRocksWe use our stepper door to store the dogs  leads and the screw type lead holders. The first thing that has to be done is hook the dogs up so they can sniff. This is followed quickly with getting the kids bikes down for them to explore.

TheWallRocksGee, I feel like I ve been ripped-off. My step door is just a step door.
Guess that s what I get for having an " old"  trailer.
I got the clips to hold the crank, but you need to crank up the top a little so you can open the door! (catch-22)
That s why I have a little tool box mounted on the tongue of the trailer. I keep my chocks and crank handles and stuff in there.
