I have a Shurflow RV-6 water filter under my sink that I am trying to replace.  It  supplies drinking water to a separate faucet for glasses and cups.

It looks like the water line is just pushed into the filter.  The new filter seems to have a compression fitting that I could pull out and place over the water line and push back in.

Has anyone replaced a filter like this?  Can I just pull the line out of the existing filter?  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Sounds like you have the same filter as my ice maker

First you have to push the tube into the filter then hold the inner ring and then pull back on the tube sometime it can be tricky to get it out.

before hooking the outlet side up run some water through it to clean all the loose carbon dust out of it !!
