ok, who stresses out when it comes time to get ready to go on a trip??  Doesn t have to be the major meltdown kind...but the feeling a little hyped, shoulders perhaps a little tense[;)] kind of stress.

I have to admit in my family...it s me!!  I get very excited about our trips..but I do tend to focus on the getting ready part..making sure everything is right and we ve got what we need...once the truck s going and we ve all hopped in I usually realize how uptight I ve gotten because all of a sudden I can feel the tension releasing[:o]  I don t think I m aware of it while it s happening...my DH however, no matter what...just takes it as it comes...I need to be more like that[:)]

CamperrooDH doesn t camp so it is me.  I too am fine once we are going.

Trlrboy

CamperrooDefinitely me.   Since we don t have kids it actually only takes us about an hour to get everything ready, packed and hooked up but I m running all over the house looking for anything we may have missed so it takes me about 6 hours to do a 1 hour job.

CamperrooThere is only me and my daughter to get packed for and I don t think either of us really stress anymore. When we were doing the tent thing I did stress wondering if all the stuff would fit in the car. But now, there is no stress really since we both pack our own clothing and then work together on the other stuff.

CampinCrazy

CamperrooOh, it is TOTALLY me.  When I am trying to plan, purchase and organize for the trip things are just crazy (thus the screen name).  Once we get there, I can relax - I just get uptight worrying about clothes and food for everyone in all kinds of situations and weather.  Sure is nice once we are popped up and sittin  back!

CamperrooWe are a sharing family. I stress out over the packing dh always worries till we pull into the campground and starts again when we pull out. I guess its the man thing about maybe having trouble with the van or the PU on the road. I used to run around like a chicken for a day or two before a trip. Last year though I noticed I ran a little less since we have pretty much now got things into a routine. Clothes and Food is all I have to pack now everything else lives in the PU. Should destress me and maybe then I can focus on destressing dh.  It takes a couple of hours at the campsite to kick back and finally say we are relaxed. We have shortened this from a day so progress is ever evolving.

CamperrooMe!  Definetely me!  But that s a good thing since my insanity always comes in handy one way or another.

Turn Key

CamperrooDon t think either of us stress much.  DW starts getting ready way early so she is done and ready long before the trip.  I have a list I put together on the computer.  I start 3-4 days before the trip and just tick off the stuff as I get it done.  Never have to worry about forgetting anything so no stress.[;)]

CamperrooCall it " stressed out"  or " the initiator" , we share the load.  I m always anxious to get on the road and go, so I m the one hustling things along, up early and organizing our departure.  I tease my DH that for the return home, he s like a horse heading for the stable.  Then he s the one hustling things along, starting early, etc.  It works, since we end up departing and heading home according to plan and we ve both contributed our share of energy.

 Camperroo I don t suffer from stress.  I m a carrier    - Dilbert

DW is the stressee because she ends up spending at least 2-3 days prior to the trip figuring out food, laundry, etc..  Does a great job.  I actually think she relaxes once she is rolling.

I stress probably much more inwardly than she realizes over making sure I have every possible tool, part, maintenance item, that I can conceive of us using or possibly needing.  Then being careful driving and parking where I can easily get back out again.

CamperrooIt all depends on what time we are leaving. If we are leaving after DH gets home from work then I have everything ready except for it hooked up to the truck. He usually does the organizing the stuff in the back of the SUV the night before except for the cooler, which I do then when he gets home we just hook up the truck and go. I have alot of things prepacked for us. It makes it alot easier that way.
If we leave the next morning it seems I am more stressed about forgetting things because everyone is asking questions and running around.

CamperrooOh Good DH hasn t replied to this thread yet!  I say it s me.  I stress over everything, right honey!  But in reality it might be Tim.  So far, I ve always been at work on fri. and he is the one who has to do most of the packing.  Ok, I pack the totes and he packed it all in the pop-up or tv.

Maybe it will be less stress with the tt, we will be able to store more and hopefully only have to pack clothes, food and towels.

whippetwrun

CamperrooThe first 2 trips it was me.  Now we keep everything in the popup except for food and clothes so all I have to do is pack up clothes and food and hitch up.

I have 1 crate in the laundry room for miscellaneous items that need to come in and out of the popup.  Towels and sheets get washed and put back in the popup within a couple days of being home.

Since DH usually meets us at the cg after work, it is easy getting out and under way.  I stress once at the cg because I set up on my own.  Although if I leave DS and DD in their car seats until I am done, it is much less stressful.[;)]

wiininkwe

CamperrooNeither of us really stresses.  Since it s just the two of us, we just each grab our own personal stuff, I do the shopping and packing, and DW gets the hook up and set up duty.  Nothing to get stressed about.   Oh, wait, there is that one little thing, putting up the AAR.  Well, maybe there is a little stress.

CamperrooME, definitely me, but Brian says I worry about too much stuff for no reason anyway, so he just lets me go.  I just know I will forget something important, and not be near a 24 hour Wal-Mart.  Then we actually get packed, and I worry we still forgot something I can t live without, or forgot something important at home, like whether or not we turned on the alarm, or if the cats had water, etc.  Then we get to the campground, and I worry the baby crying is disturbing other campers, or else our correcting the older kids is carried outside our campsite, or that it will rain and we will all be stuck inside the camper together etc, etc, etc.  Then we pack up to leave and I worry Brian forgot the stabilizer handle, or something like that, and then on the way home worry something happened at home while we were gone, or we ll have trouble on the way home.  Then we get home and the next day I worry that Brian didn t lock the camper hitch, but only because we had one stolen, and see, Brian is right I just worry way TOO much.  :o)  I think I need a vacation from me!
