DH and I got in our first camptrip of the new year this past weekend. We left on Thursday and came back Sunday. We lucked out with perfect weather. A little cold at night (38ish but the furnace worked fine) and 68-72 during the day with sunshine. Our Pu got a new Port potti from Santa so that had its maiden voyage [;)]
There were quite a few people at the campground from lots of different states. We even saw some camping newbies trying to set up a new tent straight out of the box, in the dark, trying to read the directions by car headlights, while their tired hungry kids stood by complaining. Poor things!
As hubby and I sat around the fire watching our dutch oven cook bean soup, I told him that I felt sad for those whose PU s were covered with snow and unable to go out. We toasted to you all and prayed for a quick return of your camping season.

StarryartIt sounds like a great trip!  Here s to many more [:)]  Our first trip of 2003 won t happen until May so it sure is great to hear from other s who can enjoy the great outdoors camping while our camper is hibernating.

StarryartI m jealous but if the weather holds, we will be at Meridian State Park the week after next.  This will be our first trip for this year.
We did have great weather this last weekend and I m praying that it will hold.  The Ft. Worth Fat Stock Show (Sorry! I like the old name.) starts the end of this week and that s when we usually  get some of our worst weather.  We will just have to wait and see.

StarryartI hope to have my first trip the last weekend of February.
I am planning on goin to the NASCAR race at Rockingham, NC
 North Carolina Motor Speedway.
It should be cold at night mid 30 s and temps seem to run in the lower 50 s during the day. So with a fire we will be OK..
We take a fire barrel and this adds up to warm air around it. We set up in " U"  shaped camp site so wind doesnt blow through the site...

StarryartGuess I did it the both ways.  Can t think of a better way to bring the New Year in other than camping.  (29 Dec 02 - 2 Jan 03)  Ended and started the camping season.  Next trip, first weekend in Feb.

btw, byrd1, enjoy the race.  Wished I could make it to one this year and really " break-in"  the PU.

 Cheers

Starryart[font=" Comic Sans MS" ]We rang in the New Year in the pop-up too.  No other place I d rather be.  Next trip is the 17th to Oscar Scherer, then Feb 1 to Fort Wilderness, then Feb. 14th to Manatee Hammock, then.... I guess being in Florida has it s advantages [:)]

I wish an early spring for all of you up North.

StarryartI m glad you had a great trip.  99 days until our first planned trip.[:@]  I was going to be upset with you until you said you were thinking off all of our pu s covered with snow.  Ours doesn t have snow on it this year (in the neighbors garage), but I will assume you were including it in your thoughts.[;)]

StarryartWe took out the old year and brought in the new year in the PU[:D].  It was great weather and we all had a great time. Got a new ceramic heater for xmas and got to use it over the new year, kept us nice and toasty on the cooler nights.

Glad you all had a great time and hope all the northern s get out soon.
