Don t know if anyone remembers, but last year I was struggling to back my pop up into the garage (short, yet sloped driveway, approximately 8 wide foot door).

Well I did fine after a couple tries.

So now it s time to start camping again and DH and I decided to take the PU to Charlies for spring maintenance.  I was pulling it out of the garage, nice and easy, with total confidence in my abilities.  Doing fairlywell, or so I thought.  Heard a crunch, and stopped quickly.

As I got out of the car to check out any damage, I watched the entire trim down the right side of the garage door fall in one piece slowly to the ground.   It seems the trim was nailed into a material similar to styrofoam which in turn was nailed in to the frame of the door. Basically the nails stayed attached to the wood frame but pulled right through the foamy piece.  The trim fell slowly because it too is made of the same foamy material.

Since actually nothing broke off, I was trying to figure out how to quietly nail it back up so DH would never know the difference, when out he walked.

What could I say other than " Honey, see how cheaply made these new construction homes are?"

The pop had no damage other than the electric cord cover came off.  DH is threatening to keep it stored somewhere before anything else comes down.[:o][:)]

whippetwrunThis wasn t so bad, so don t let him give you any grief over it.  Just the fact that you are pulling that thing around is quite a statement!  Good for you, and it ll be alright.

whippetwrunDon t let him bother you.  It fits in the garage and you can pull it in and out.  Sooner or later everyone touches something.

Better Luck next time!!  [;)] [/font]

whippetwrunOh don t feel to bad .If you can t nail it up glue it with some liquid nails. At least you can get it out of the garage. My dad and his friends built a pontoon boat one time in the church garage. When they were done they realized it was to big to go though the door. They had to cut it in two pull it it out then weld it back together.  And yes he is polish. He is still waiting for me to do something silly  like that .  So i have to stop teasing him.

 whippetwrunHey whippetwrun,

If I new you were going to pull it out of garage with your TV I would have tried to stop you. Both the wife and I hand push it around in the driveway. Yes a lot of work but now we have ordered a trailer dolly to help move it around. We do this as to not cause any damage to anything in the driveway or garage to include the trailer itself. The dollies run from about 40 to 100 dollars depending on the model you get. Like always the more money you spent for one the better/easier it is to handle, provided you don t get ripped off. We have about two inchs on one side and an inch on the other side of the trailer when we put it in the garage. So it is two close to use a TV. In fact we can not close the garage door all the way because of the length. We are short about 12" .  Good Luck with DDH!

While I am here, we have another trip schduled for 15 of May at Otter Creek in PA. Only about one hour from where you are. Let me know if you are interested.

whippetwrunIt nailed up no problem - but I ll remember the liquid nails for future mishaps!  [:o]That way I can quietly nail it back in place [;)].  I just kept reminding him we save $40 -50 a month by keeping it in the garage.

Whitestar505 - we have an engagement party that weekend that there is no getting out of. [>:]  Thanks for thinking of us!

whippetwrunI have the same storage issue.  The way I fixed it was to not use the car to back it in.  I have a " power-pull"  one of those rope thingies with a handle to let you winch in something attached to a rope.  We put a small ring in center of the garage floor, near the back of the garage.  I attach the power pull to the tonge (running the rope between the wheels) and winch it in about 6 inches at a time, that makes it easy to make little adjustments to the postion as we back it in.  To take it out, we just reverse the process. YMMV.

 cheers and happy camping!
