well, we went out first time, had a great time, UNTIL we were packing up. pushed in the back bunk and see, right under where you push it into, a big crack in the back panel, appears to have started from a screw hole. run around to check the front panel, yep, a smaller crack coming fron the same area. what to do??? dh says they were not there when we arrived, must have come from the change of temp. must find manual.what a bummer ending to a fine weekend. this on an `02 westlake. any suggestions?

cooncreekersWe had a crack in the back panel of our 2002 Westlake.  It was covered under warranty.  From what I understand some of the screw holes were either drilled to small or when the screw was put in it was put in too tight.

Depending upon when you bought it it might be under warranty.  Check with your dealer.  We have not had a problem with the new one they put on.  My dealer said that they have had a few of the original panels they have had to replace because of the above problem, but they have not had to replace any panel that they have had to replace.  (I hope that made sense!)

cooncreekersHave you seen this in Fix It?

When I replaced my front panel none of the holes were drilled larger than the screws, All holes have thread marks in them.  The new panel came with predrilled holes, but most of them had to be enlarged or moved to lineup with holes in the aluminum strip.

cooncreekersIf it s under warrenty or the warrenty is expired (but it s still close to the expiration date), contact your dealer and see what they say. Mine was almost 2 months out of warrenty and they replaced the back and front panels.

cooncreekersthanks guys, dh has called the dealer, he says bring *her* in, i`ll replace `em [:D] whew! BUT, its 2 hrs away, he has to see it before he orders them, and then its 10 days to 2 weeks to come in. well, we have rock solid plans to meet and camp w/ non other than your old friend 3-2-go!!!!! yeah, but, not enough time to get it done. [:@]so, guess we`ll caulk it with something that will seal out rain and yet easily be taken out when we get time to take it to him for replacement. i`m just relieved that there will be no hassle about it, its 2 months over the warranty. course, i know, they haven`t done it YET, but, i have faith in them. [:)] thanks for the information friends. [;)]
