Lovely, woodsy, little SP in the Pineywoods region of East Texas (right off I30).  Everything about this park screams nature!

The sites are roomy, secluded, and shady.  The lake is small but beautiful and peaceful.  There is a 5mph speed limit for boats and swimming for guests in the summer.  There are also wonderful fishing and hiking opportunities.  The hiking trail goes along the lake through a dense wooded area and I would rate it s difficulty a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10.

There is a playground for children and the bathrooms are cleaned frequently.  The park staff is wonderful and the wood you buy there burns VERY well.

I have pictures on my website that were taking in the winter.

On a scale of 1 to 100, this park gets a 95 from me!

If you d taken a wrong turn on the trail, like we did, you d have rated it a lot tougher.  [:D]  We started off near the restrooms, and missed a turn, and ended up following an old truck path.  Hey, we ve seen trails like this before, so it was natural to assume it was THE trail.  Until it petered out.  We kept on, heading towards the noise we could occassionally hear from the highway.  And then we got to the thorn patches.  Hoo boy.   We finally made it through them, onto the easement by the highway, and back into the park entrance.

Definitely not a path I d recommend unless you like scratches. [:D]
