...and Windows ME, be aware.  Friday I got a new download from Charter that was suppose to give a new self-help Wizard.  I downloaded it with no problem but that s were the trouble started.  From there on, I could only have one window open at a time and under certain conditions, not even that.  Called Charter about 30 minutes ago and their tech told me that this thing isn t working right and the re having " issues"  (compuereze for " trouble"  with a capatol T!!![:@]) with this new Wizard.  She said it could be several months before the bugs were worked out.  Good news is that she took me throgh an un-install and that seems to have solved the problem.  If you have installed this new wizard and your  puter isn t working right, you may want to do the same.

All you computer literate types out there need not read this as I m sure you understand all this and think I have no clue about this box I sit in front of.  Well,....your right[&:]!

Turn KeyYea, I ahve had trouble with Charter.. I use the internet for work, yet I have no need of high bandwidth I am just working off a server.. What I DO expect for my $$$ every month is a conection and if it is down I dang well expect them to fix it now..  That being said, I can pay a bribe to get them out the same day or they will " try"  to fix it today!!! (Yes, this was last Friday) So I went off on them and their " bribe"  to fix it today.. WEll, they called it a buisness account, I call it a bribe.. I don t need a higher band width, I need no addtional services.. I just want prompt service when THEIR stuff breaks.. I just went thru them re-wireing my house, computer and out to the street.. Next day it went out again.. Hmmm.. Now that was a couple months ago when they did that,  The next day when it went out they told me Ok.. we will have some one out before 3pm But " if it comes back on, let us know"  it did I called them, about 1/2 an hour later it was out again.. When I called back to tell them they need to keep the tech comming they told me.. Sorry, we can t be out till tomorow.. But " if you had paid the bribe" , I mean " had a  business account we could be there today" ... Yea, well lets just say when I got done they were there that day about noon.. [;)]

Man I hate games... It is not like this is a 9.95 net zero payment..If I was running major bandwidth or server useage I could see it.. But just for them to fix thier broken stuff and get me back on for what I am paying a lot of money for.. It is a bribe...

Is it just me?? or do you all think I am right?? My wife thinks I am nuts I think..

Turn KeyCan t tell you if your right or not FE.  Do know that I ve been on Charter for two years now and have been happy with it.  Like most things, it breaks down once in a while but I have found Charter to be very prompt in getting the problems resolved.

Turn KeyWe have Charter for our cable service and are very unhappy with it. Thursday night all of the channels were changed all over the place. Their people have no clue as to what is happening.

Turn KeySorry, FE gotta go with the wife on this one.
Mostly it s our " instant"  world we ve created. Instant coffee, instant oatmeal, microwaves, drive thru s. We ve got to have everything right now.
Looks like you need to go campin  without any electronics and just stare at a fire for a few hours.
I went through the same exact thing as you are and I ll bet (though they ll never tell you) that it ll boil down to a rotten job done by a contractor that s paid by the job not by the hour.
Come to think about it my FIL down in Florida last year got a cable moden when they started up in Lakeland. Took about 3 months before they had the problems ironed out of the system. Came down to (you guessed it) one of the contractors had a switching something or other wired incorrectly.
Keep track of your outages. Mine only credits for 24hours or more, but FIL s down in Florida credits for 4 hour blocks of outage. Check your provider s policies.

QuoteIs it just me?? or do you all think I am right?? My wife thinks I am nuts I think..

Not to nuts, babe! [;)]  We actually switched to Charter when I started working for an insurance co. doing Personal Injusy cases.  It wasn t to bad then, but I have to admit that when it goes bad, it really goes bad.  That one time Lee was talking about was the worst!  It s sort of stupid to say, " Call us if it comes back on" , and when it does - you call.  But then it went out again and I called right away (about 20 minutes after the call to say, " It s back on"   )  and they won t send anyone out until the next day??  It s just bad customer service I think.  And the whole " business service contract "  thing is just nonsense.  $20 extra, on top of our internet bill - just to come out the same day to fix the problem??!!  I agree with Lee, they should be out there the same day if thier service is not working.  If it was just " surfin  the net"  type things, I could be a whole lot more patient.  But this is not for a luxury, or pleasure, this is for a living!  He supports our whole family through this tool.  So basiclly,
 no internet service=no work done=no paycheck=one very unhappy wife [>:]  [;)]

Turn KeyWe don t have that much trouble with the service going completely out. But the mail sever we are on is subject to go on the fritz at anytime. About once a month we cant send E-mail or we just don t get something we know has been sent. [:@]

Turn KeyThe other thing that bugs me is it is always your house.. I mean come awn!! They gave me that " Well we will try to have someone out by tomorow garbarge just the other day when Icalled (remember, they just rewired from the street to my computer.. Gee, ya think maybe it may be on YOUR end??  I just find them to be a real bugger to deal with.. Mostly you deal with morons. And as for an " instant world"  you are right.. But then again, we are paying for an instant world..
