 Hello
I m so excited we just got our first pop up! [:D]  We are trying to plan a camping trip and I m enjoying all the ideas I m getting on here.  Any tips would be appreciated.
We bought a 1992 Jayco pop up for $2000.  Has sink, stove, potty cabinet, and awning and is in excellent condition!  We used to have a 30  RV but we have sold it and were tent camping again. We liked the more open feel but living in Louisiana wanted something with a little better climate control so we started looking at pop ups.  They are selling as fast as they come in the paper here and the dealers said the used ones they get in are snatched up by the first person to look at them.
Anyways, I m glad to have found this site and is there any organized time for the chat room?  It s so hard to find anyone in there chatting.
 Thanks
 Karen

Along with all the great help and advice here, his site really helped to answer our questions!

Where are you planning on for your first trip?

 apumpkincenterpalKaren,

Welcome to the board.  There is a wealth of information here as well as a great group of folks willing to help.

whippetwrun has already pointed you to my web page (thanks whippetwrun for the plug), but I suggest you statr with my [link=http://www.title-3.com/FAQ.htm]Frequently Asked Questions Page[/link].  I have been collecting information here for a long time and posting it on that page.

As for your chat question, let me quote the Mayor of Chatville, GeneF:

QuoteOkay, Just thought I would get a reminder out about chats on Wednesdays at 8 pm est.

I have been a bit remise about reminding people but the chat does go on. Not only on Wednesday nights but you are likely to find someone there on most any night. 8 to 9 est seems to be safe time to check in.

Anyway, if you have the time on Wednesday, please drop in. All are welcome to join in.

 Again, welcome to the board!

Turn Key

 apumpkincenterpalWelcome aboard!
Being as your not new to camping, just PU s, you ll already have a good idea what you want out of it.  Best 2 suggestions I can make is to practice setting up at home a number of times before your first trip and make that first trip close to home.  Until you ve done it a few times and worked the " bugs"  out, setting up a PU is not as easy as the salesman likes to make it look.  They are not difficult but coorodination between the people doing it goes a long way.  Once you ve done it a few times, you learn what needs to be done when and by whom.  Makes it very easy if the same person does the same thing the same way each time.
Best of luck and happy camping.

apumpkincenterpalCongratulations on the new PU.  I hope you have a great time in it.[:)]

Red neff Barchetta

 apumpkincenterpalHappy camping!
Since you ve already had an RV I ll spare you my newbie advice saying; " Don t forget the stabilizer s (up & down)!" .
Glad I won t have to mention that to you, ha.

 apumpkincenterpalKaren,

Welcome to our addiction. You will find friendly faces and loads of info here. If you don t mind, please update your profile so that we can see where you hail from!

Also, at the bottom of Tim s front page (www.title-3.com), there is a popup webring, which takes you to tons of places where several of us here have our own websites. Tim s page has pretty much all the info you need, but there are neat mods and vacation pics at the other sites.

We hope to see you here often! (Which means, we hope you become a member of Arvee Club, and get PopupTimes magazine).

apumpkincenterpalHowdy from TX...welcome to the board! [:)]

Camping Coxes

apumpkincenterpalWelcome!  If you use the search feature here at PUT and put in " newbie"  as a keyword, you can view their questions and responses they got, and I m sure their information will be helpful to you too.  If you have questions specific to your model, use your model name as a keyword and that will help connect  you to people who can answer your more model-specific dilemmas.

Some things to remember -- you don  t have all the cabinetry you had in an RV, so packing becomes more challenging.  Stick with plasticware that you won t worry about chipping, breaking, etc. in transit.  What I call squashables work
well -- squashable laundry storage, squashable trash cans, etc.  You ve learned about Tim s sight, which is a wealth of information (and causes a big honey-do list for modifications!).

Check in often and you ll get to know us.  Go to a rally or two (formal or informal) and you ll really get to know us!  [8D]

Gamecock Camper

apumpkincenterpalWelcome aboard from South Carolina.  You ll be glad you got the PU and will quickly find that you can modify your pop-up to suit your needs.  Congrads and happy camping.
