Well once again, we are buying a new van.. But this time it is not junk. ! [:D]
We drove out to look at another conversion van today. (Stoped in to see Austin & family too.. Thanks again for dinner guys!!) I really had a good feeling about this one when I talked to the owner (We had to drive an hour and 15 minutes to see it) But we bought it, and will be picking it up next week.. It is a 94 Chevy low-top short wheel base Mark III conversion. Here is the best part.. Up untill 2 years ago it lived it s life in FLA. When it was sold it had 48k on it and 2 years later it has 52k.. This guy bought it to drive to the Cape where he had a travel trailer in a campground.. (this way he didn t have to load up his Bimmer..)  It is in such nice shape it is not funny!! It had a beautiful interior (Gray with kinda plum colored seats and carpet) lots of oak trim, and it has the TV/VCR with it.. It also has the hinged doors I like.. Runs mint (it has the 4.3, but we don t plan on towing a huge camper... and with the low-top and short wheel base, it should tow at least better than any mini-van... No hitch, but I can fix that... Here is the best part.. $5,500 and it is mine.. I forgot to grab photos, but I will add some next week..I am pretty happy, I have been praying to find a really nice van for Andrea.. She didn t want a huge van again, but I didn t want a mini-van with the new arrival.. I think a low-top short wheel base fits nicely.. And those of you that thought that GMC we had last year looked good.. This thing makes that one look like a beat taxi.. I can t wait to get it home and get a good coat of wax on it and start " playing"  with it..

Firefyter-EmtSounds like a great van! My dad has a work van with the 4.3, and it has well over 100K miles (150K or so I think), and I had a truck with that 4.3. Great engine!

Congrats, and I can t wait to see it in Hillsville!

Firefyter-EmtI am so glad you found a vehicle that you are both happy with.  Good luck with it.

Firefyter-EmtThat is great about your new van.  I too have a 94 Chevy G20 conversion van that I bought last year to tow the camper with.  Mine has the hight top and long wheel base and a V8.  It has proved to be one of the best decisions in car buying that I have made.  It pulls the camper with such ease that I don t even know it is there.  It is big enough for all the kids and their stuff.  It has the TV/VCP and everyone is very happy traveling in it.  I just love this van.  My van had 138000 miles on it, but the engine and transmission are great.  I did have to get a new radiater and helper springs in the back, but other than that and a tuneup, it has been great.  Did I say that I love this van?  I hope you will enjoy your new van as much as we enjoy our " Moose" .  I will have to check it out in VA.  Have fun and good luck.[8D][8D][8D]

Firefyter-EmtWe are not set in stone for bringing the van yet.. I have a 4 wheeling rally the weekend before in Penn. So I was planing on just towing it with my 4Runner.. But  If we use the van we still have to take the 4Runner.. Which means twice the gas, However.. It will be a better ride for the kids and wife, But My wife has never driven that much straight, and I really don t want to break it up into 2 days..  We will see..

I will be adding some photos this weekend of the ride.. You will not believe hwo clean this thing is..

Firefyter-EmtI haven t wanted to say anything, but I really don t like the name of this thread!  " New tow rig"  is OK, but " Big mommie van"  - no.  Big and Mommie should NEVER be in the same sentence - no matter the subject!

This also makes me a little nervous.  By 2pm my body has HAD IT! I don t ever remember a baby taking so much energy out of me!  And she s such a quiet little thing, not a bunch of kicking and rolling around.  Just a small kick every now and then to let me know she s there (and I have to go to the bathroom!) [:)]  It would be great to have the van for the kids, but we would have to divide up the travel time more than I d like.

Firefyter-EmtWell Tom.. Pretty plain & simple,  It s a Mommie van.. and it s not a mini-van.. So..... It s a Big mommie van [:(]  Somehow I don t think the name will be a keeper, Eh??
