Sure has been quiet in here lately eh?

Well the May 3rd weekend was our first camp-out with the new hybrid and with the Magical Flying Camper Club and we couldn t have asked for a better time.  The trailer performed better then expected, also we had the pleasure of being part of a group camp-out consiting of 15 families and almost 60 people.

Bronte was a pleasant surprise.  This is only it s second year of operation however it s location is ideal for an easy trip close to many large cities in South Central/Western Ontario.    The day use portion is operated sepertly from the camping section.  There is lots to do for nature lovers and kids.  This park would be ideal as a base camp for visiting Toronto or just for enjoying a short weekend.

fivegonefishinggot to agree...... great spot to use for seeing the sites in the area. We took the time to hike back into the 400 s though and there are some nice wooded sites back there I definitely would be looking for one of those in the heat of the summer. Watch for some of the lower lying sites they do flood out after a couple of wet days.

Thought I'd update this older post. Just returned from Bronte Creek Provincial Park. As suggested above, we used it as a base camp for visiting Toronto, and its location west of the city was perfect as we were continuing on to Niagara Falls from there.

We had a good experience at the park. Large, private, grassy site in the 200 (radio-free) loop. Beautiful wildflowers and birds; watch out for bold raccoons! Convenient "mini-comfort station" (2 bathroom/sink rooms) and longer walk to full, very nice facilities. We stayed Sat.-Tues; our loop was pretty full and loud on Sat. night but nearly deserted for Sun.-Mon.

This is a great campground/park for kids. The campground had the nicest playground I have ever seen, anywhere. Kids could have played for hours. The day use area (8 km away) was once farmland, and an antique barn has been converted into a playspace for children. There is also an outdoor playscape, barns with animals to pet and feed, and a nature center. Bronte also has an enormous all-shallow pool that had not opened yet for the season when we were there.

Unfortunately, Bronte Creek is located in what is now full-fledged suburbia. When the campground went up in 2002, the planners couldn't have imagined the building boom that is taking place. There are literally thousands of townhouse and other association-style units going up all around the park and for miles beyond. Some are right next to the campground property and can be seen looming over the westernmost campsites, closest to the shower building. Because the houses are still being built, you can hear (and even see) construction going on. You'll also hear traffic, airplanes, and trains. So, if you are looking to "get away from it all," this is definitely not the campground for you.

We enjoyed this campground because for us the positives outweighed the  negatives. But this wouldn't be the case for everyone.
