Tonight was the first time I filled the underfloor tank and tried the water systems out. Not knowing what to expect from this hand pump, I dont know if its working OK or not. The book says it pumps water on both the up and down stroke. Mine only pumps a little water on part of the downstroke, nothing on the upstroke, and it pumps real hard. Doesn t seem right. Worked great when connected to City water and no leaks. I hope to get a response as to what is NORMAL before I call the dealer.

 cpineCpine,

If this is the first time that you have used the " manual"  operation, then it is just like any other pump which is not working with a pressurized water system (city water or 12 Volt pump).

You will have to prime the pump.  This is done by repeatedly operating the pump in both directions (up and down).  This allows the check vales in the manual pump to draw water with each motion and expell the drawn water on the opposing stroke.  If per chance one of the check valves has a piece of trash in it, it will only pumb in one direction.  You may have to operate the pump at home on the city water to flush any trash out of the lines and clear the valves.

Once the valves are clean and operating properly, you should be able to pump water in both directions.

 Hope this helps.  Good Luck.[;)]

Turn Key

cpineShould pump fairly strong in both directions.  I only use my manual pump to move anti-freeze in the winter time and it pumps well then.  Use hook-ups when camping.
Try what Caveman suggested.  If that doesn t work, you may need a new faucet.  Shur-Flow warrants those things for 2 years.

cpineThe pump was defective and the dealer gave me a new one. Thanks

Congrats on getting the new hand pump, and I hope its working fine.  Here are a couple things to keep in mind regarding these pumps.

 1.  Do not allow any of the RV antifreeze to enter and remain in these pumps.  It voids the pumps warranty, and causes internal damage to the pump itself.  Check out the info on Tim5055 s site (I think).  I remember reading about the warnings there.

 2.  Often these pumps work really great at first and then seem to work poorly.  Often times this is a result of the hose clamps coming loose somewhere between the pump and the H2O holding tank.  These pumps will only " draw"  water on a perfectly closed system... and if any small leak starts in the line which lets air in, it interferes with proper operation of the pump.

Check it out from time to time, and keep your hose clamps tight.

HTH and have a great day![:)]

 CadeusesCadeuses,

You were reading carefully to find that at the bottom of my [link=http://www.title-3.com/Winterize.htm]Winterize You Pop Up page[/link].

Specifically the winterizing instructions for the Shurflo Water Wizzard Hand Pump, Model 150 states:

" WINTERIZING CAUTION: DO NOT use propylene glycol based anti-freeze fluids."

tim5055Thanks Tim.... I knew I read it somewhere on your website!

Good to know the memory hasn t gone to  sh** yet![8D][:D]

cpineWell after replacing the pump and trying it out we decided to not use it. It pumps to hard and the amount of water isn t worth the effort. I bought a large cutting board the size of the inside stove and am going to be using a 4 gallon aquatainer set up on the board with the spout overhanging the sink. This way we will have running water. At least I got my pump unit replaced by the dealer and know that its operable.

cpineWe basically have the same problem with our hand pump faucet too. It draws on the up stroke and the water comes out on the downstroke. I have never had it hooked to city water since we got it. Can you just hook it up to the hose to check it?? Also is there a way to add a water pump and a new faucet?? If so, how hard is it to do?? We have done some basic plumbing at our house. We also plan to add an outlet by tapping into the outlet in front of the water tank so that we can have one inside of the cabinet for the fridge to plug into so that we don t see the cord. Any help would be appreciated.

Debby, If you re talking about a 12V outlet, for a cooler (12V), don t forget to use a good heavier wire. With a separate in-line fuse. You will only be able to run the cooler while plugged into shore power too. It s will deplete your battery rather quick.

MPTDAT

cpineNo actually I am talking about the regular outlets for a fridge not a cooler. We have no 12 volt outlets!! I asked about how to do that in another topic. The funny thing is that we don t have a battery either! If we don t plug in we have no power! No dry camping for us!

cpineOK, Then just tap off of the other outlet. Wire to the screw on the existing outlet, It may have holes to strip a wire and add a plug,  cut and mount a box in the cabinet, add the outlet and your done.
