RE: New york state trailer inspection

Apparently New York State registered campers are supposed to have their campers safety inspected every year.
 How do my fellow New Yorkers deal with this?

We get our camper inspected every year. Seems the best way to deal with it.

Seeing as how they re not supposed to registar a trailer with out a current inspection, it seems inspection is the way to go.
 
 PS: if the trailer has brakes (required if over 1000 dry weight or over 3000 gross) current inspection rules are the trailer brakes must be in working order and operational. Most garages require you to have a TV with a brake controller for them to test the brakes.

I just take it to the RV dealer or the local garage (I even had my Ford dealer do it once) and the whole thing takes less than ten minutes...  make sure all the lights are working, the tires have tread and are not dry-rotted, pull off a wheel and see how much meat is left on the brakes.  Then I give them $10 and I get a sticker.  It s the same inspection sticker that your car would get, except where the mileage would go, they punch holes in that area.  I then just staple the sticker to the registration.  It s an easy process - and I get the peace of mind that everything is safe & sound.
