 The first of the firsts....

We were at Inks Lake SP, Tx.  The trip was great.  We were literally surrounded by deer the first day.  After that, we just saw a few every now and then.  We went canoeing Sat. and had a great time.  I almost dunked Donna the first time we pulled up to shore.  I was pulling the canoe in, and there was a stump that tipped the canoe.  Then there was Mr. Snake.  A snake had taken up residence in the tree right behind us.  He never bothered us, and we didn?t seem to bother him.  We had site 225, Thanks Turn Key.

 The second of the firsts........

We had to break camp earlier than we wanted on Sunday because of the rain.  That was the first time we had break down in the rain.  Lot?s of fun.  The camper is open in the driveway now drying out.  LOL.  The little spitting going on is not helping, but with everyone s help here, we did good. The inside barely got wet.

 The third of the firsts.....

This was the first time towing with the new TV.  A 2003 Silverado LT ext. cab Z71.  It was like there was nothing behind us the whole time.  For those in TX., we took the 281 route from Hico.  We averaged a little better than 15mpg towing both ways.  This route has many hills.  I love this new truck!  Ever since I got it, about a month ago, I am averaging over 18mpg combined driving.  Power, comfort, towing ability, etc.

I ll chime in on three firsts!
You sounded like you had a great time.  We had rain, more rain, some more rain and five minutes of sunshine.  Still had fun playing in the mud though.

 The first of the firsts....

This was the first time we went out further tha 50 miles from home (Baltimore area) to go camping.  It was the sixth camping trip we have done in our new popup.  We ventured to Fernridge Campgrounds in Blakeslees (SP), PA.  It was 3-1/2 hours, 195 miles from home.

 The second of the firsts........

It was the first time we used the new TV.  The 2003 Jeep Liberty proved to be a great TV.  This morning, after an all night rain storm, we were in about 4 inches of mud.  I tested the Jeep in 2WD and it wouldn t go anywhere in the mud.  Hooked up the Jeep and the Mesa and put it in 4WD Low and walked it right out.

 The third of the firsts.....

We took another couple with us camping.  He did super!  He had camped as a kid and new all about camp fires, looking for dry wood, cooking, etc.  She was another story.  Had never been camping, tore the thermastat off the wall in the popup, tore down a couple of the hanger clips on the curtains to the bunk ends, tried to eat some dog snacks (yeh, they do look like Combo snacks when in a zip-lock baggy!), and was overall the entertainment of the entire trip.

And yes we do have something in common.  My PU is in my driveway opened up and drying out as I had to popdown in the rain this morning.  It ll stay that way this week as I comince to doing some small repairs (like refastening the thermastat back on!)
