When cranking up or down, we have what I would call a slipage. You crank and it is like it slips off the  sprocket  and I have no idea what to fix. Still goes up and down, but with this problem, don t know for how much longer. Kind of a thud sound and like a bike chain slipping off a worn sprocket. Best I can explain it really, has anyone else had this kind of problem???

Rocky Mountain SueWe had the same problem with our Jayco 12SO.  DH got in there and after alot of sweat, bad words, etc, found that one of the pulley wheels was not turning, the cable was just slidding or skidding over it.  During this we were raising and lowering roof slightly so DH and my dad could watch the system.  They saw that it was putting the whole system in a " bind" .  Unfortunatley the pulley is welded so it cannot be easily changed.  Had to bring to dealership for service.  Two week turnaround.  Had big camping trip planned for next week, had to rent a cabin

Rocky Mountain SueOurs does that right when we start cranking her up.  Then it ll catch and we can crank it up fully with no problems.  I don t know if that s what you re experiencing as well, but our dealer said that they do that and it s nothing to worry about.  I did notice that if I cranked it down too tightly at the end, it would take a lot longer to catch the next time I d crank it up.  Now I just stop cranking when it s down and don t tighten it up so much at the end, and I don t have any problems with it.

The other thing your post made me think of is that when I m cranking the roof down at the end of a trip, I always do it in intervals so that I can go a round the camper andmake sure the tenting is folding down and tucked in the way I want it to be.  I always make sure to ratchet it a bit before I make my trip around the camnper so that it doesn t accidentally slip and go crashing down.

Rocky Mountain SueWe were told to spray ours and the slippage stopped.  It was sure scary when it happened.  It does need to be sprayed more when it is very hot.

Rocky Mountain SueOpie431 what did he recommend to use...something like WD40?  Our Bayside  rarely goes up and down smoothly.  So far not a big problem, more aggravating than anything.  The two Coleman s we owned previously never had this issue, but they had much lighter roofs too...wondering if the size and weight of the Bayside roof contributes to this.  (Will definitely double check my pulleys now though.)
