The Robinsons

The RobinsonsNo, we did not graduate from tents.  I wish we had, though, because that is a GREAT name!!!  And, yes, I do know what that movie & song are about!  When I was in junior high, we had an English teacher named Mrs. Robinson.  We d always sing that song for her (having no idea the story behind it) and she would just cringe!  Now I know how she feels![&:]

I do like Robinson Cruiser.  We could change the spelling to Robinson Ca-ruiser so folks would know where it came from.  If only we were Swiss, though.  It d be so easy...

I do have some information for Jeffrey, though.  I told my kids this morning that we needed to pick a name for our camper.  My 5-year-old son, Jake, first says to call it the " Robinson Camper" , since we re the Robinsons.  Then he said, " Well, mom, the camper doesn t really need a name because it s just a camper.  How about we call it " popup camper"  since that s what it is - a popup camper."   No imagination whatsoever.  Just like his dad.  Just like Jeffrey. [;)]

CathyAnn - we are not making it to Daingerfield.  It s dance recital weekend.[:(] I do not know what I was thinking when I said, " Yeah, we ll do the recital" ![:@]   We are going to Dinosaur Valley in September, though.  What about you?

QuoteFunny about some of the DH s on this post...why not name the camper?

The real question is, do you physically put the name on it (like a boat)? and if so, where? and how?

 could change my signature to
Rockwood 2518G " White O  Morn"  -- like the cottage in " The Quiet Man"  with John Wayne

We named ours " Pops Up Anywhere"  and went to a trophy shop to get a license plate frame made.  Looks good.

You say he has no imagination, I think he must be a smart kid.
Why name something that already has a perfectly good name.
Plus, It s never going to learn to answer to it s name, anyway!

I have been known to call the PU or my vehicles names, when they don t work.
But I don t think thats what you mean.

The RobinsonsI really wanted to name ours and wanted to stay with a theme around the Palomino brand, but inspiration just wouldn t strike [:(].  Besides dh felt like Jeffrey feels. [: (]

I just let the thoughts percolate for a while and voila! the perfect name came to me.  Her name is " a horse with no name" [:D] Nobody calls her that, it isn t written anywhere and that makes both of us happy!  (and when I get back from the southwest I can sing that America tune and oh! ~ never mind!!)

 Good luck, Mrs Robinson! [;)]

Yes, he is a smart kid.  Too smart for my own good.  And with the answer he gave me this morning, his dad thinks he s brilliant!  What about cats, though?  People give names to cats (you even said it yourself, " pets have names" ), but they don t come when they re called!  I ll bet a popup is as easy to train as a cat! [:@]

I m still mulling it over....  I ve got all this testosterone and someday-gonna-be-testosterone against me.  I am woman, though.  I WILL PREVAIL!!! ROARRRR!

For a family camper, DH is less than thrilled with the heroin reference[;)]...Still. it s better than... The Smack Shack ?   Our Junk Bunks ?[:D]  I took a poll of the younger females in the house this morning ~ they voted in " Pretty, Pretty Pony" !![:D][:D]

gooseHow about " The Robin s Nest" ?

gooseWe have been mulling over this issue for a while ourselves, nothing seems to stick. We have a Viking camper, our last name is Romeo our first names are Joseph and Mary so we have a good base but DH doesn t like any of them so far. DH is Scilian so I was even trying to come up with something in Italian. So I know how you feel trying to name the PU. One of these days it will be named.

The RobinsonsWe have a 1995 Viking with hail dings on the roof...." Dimples" .

The RobinsonsHey gang, remember Space Family Robinson from " Lost In Space" ? (And Will Robinson and the conniving Dr Smith?)  Well, did their space ship have a name?  Maybe that would be a good one for thew Robinsons PU--just a thought.

gooseJeffrey, Sonny, you are WONDERFUL!!  Thanks. Mom

PS--I think that is a SUPER NAME!  Not too long or complicated and when someone asks why they chose it, they can tell them a really neat reason for choosing that name![:)]

TheWallRocks

 The RobinsonsWhat else....... " LOVSHAC"

We got in the habit of calling it that for obvious reasons.  Now it s on the license plate.  People laugh when they see it.

gooseWhen we got our Coleman Utah I thought it should have a name since it seemed most others on the forum named their PU s so I named it " The Following Sea" (it s a Navy thing..." fair winds and following seas..." ).  I thought it was impressive - DW said, " Huh?"  Anyway, we never painted the name on the PU and we never called it that and about the only place it appears is in my signature on the forum.  When we speak of going somewhere with the PU we usually refer to it as the trailer or the popup and let it go at that.  When we bought the hybrid I just changed the signature to show a Rockwood instead of a Coleman and left off the name.  Don t see adding one.

I suggest you call it what you usually say when you speak of it, which is usually, " Let s load up the trailer and head for the lake!"  Imagine saying, " Hey, let s load up Lurline and go camping!."

But what the hey, go with what turns you on! After all, you re the one you re trying to please.  [:)]
