RE: Portland, ME campground near ocean??

Hey ya all.. remember me?? [] I am looking for a campground near Portland, ME.. a beach type would be nice.. It don t need to be in Portland just close.. My wife want s something on or close to the ocean.. I have to pick up a set of canvas doors for my Jeep and figured for a 300 mile round trip, Heck we will just go camping an pick them up after the rally..

Old Orchard Beach and Scarboro are just south of Portland, less than half hour drive.  There are no campgrounds on the beach but there are a few in walking distance and others that have shuttle service to the beach.

Hi Fireguy, Our favorite place to stay is Bayley s Camping Resort. Great pools,live entertainment and very close to the beach. Portland is 10 to 15 min. away.This is a rather busy campground but is close to everything. We have been going up there for the last 4 years for a two week stay. It is also close to Old Orchard beach amusement pier and a water park and an amusement park/water park(FUN town Splash town). Also Drive in theater close. Maine Mall for the wife to shop 10 min. away. We re going again this year first two weeks in Aug. Thats my two cents worth. Have fun up there.
