We are thinking about making a long weekend to the Niagra Falls area.  We don t need hookups, although I am find I like having electric more and more.  We normaly camp in stale/national parks.  Thanks for your help.[:)]

tlhdocI haven t camped in the area myself, but I have seen the campgrounds right on the edge of the city.  Personally, I would be hard pressed to stay there myself unless I was using it to meet people or using it as a base camp only.  There is no privacy, not too many trees and pretty packed in. Plus I think there is a train close by.

I guess it depends on what your needs are...do you want to do the tourist thing at the Falls or travel a bit to get to the falls, if so, one of the local Provincal Parks may be a better option.

 On the US side...
We camped at Four Mile Creek State Park this past fall... it is near Lewiston, about 15 to 20 min. from the Falls.  It has electric sites and a small store.

The fee paid to get into one State Park gets you in to them all ... so we got to park in the Niagra Falls State Park parking lots for free... just show your campsite tag. We parked on the US side, and walked across to Canada.  Avoided the traffic, and the view is spectacular!  Exchange rate work in our favor as well[:D].

There are some great walking trails along the Niagra Gorge... most of them are located along the Robert Moses Parkway. You can also visit " Old Fort Niagra"  which is right next door.  [&:]

I believe that the new Casino just opened up on the US side... If your into that sort of entertainment!

We will be going back this summer!

E-Mail me if you would like info on specific site recommendations.

tlhdocWe are going this summer and will be staying at [link=http://www.riversideparkcampgrd.com/index.html]Riverside Park Campground[/link]. We are staying in site 55. It is supposed to have the best view of the Niagra River and near the playground.

We have camped for progressive lengths of time at Riverside Campground on the Niagara River Parkway between the Peace and Rainbow Bridges.  The Terreberry family makes you feel like a member of their family.  The motel on the grounds is nothing special (except for linens dried outside in the sun!), but it makes a great place to camp with friends/family who do NOT camp!  They have an inground pool, miniature golf, game room, great shower/bathroom/laundry facilities, an aviary, a turtle pond, a small playground, rabbits to pet, a soccer field, etc.  Their daughter is even willing to dog-sit while you sightsee or gamble!  In case you can't guess, I highly recommend this campground!  If you come in August of 2004, come visit us on site 55!  BESchultz@aol.com
