I m thinking of taking the PU down to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville area for a long weekend next month. Been to the area numerous times before but never to camp. Any suggestions for campgrounds? For this trip, I d prefer amenities and conveniences to " way back in the woods" !

 Thanks!

labontefanMy favorite is Crazy Horse cg, located about 10 miles east of Gatlinburg on Cosby HWY.  It s a quick, easy drive out there.  Nice sites, especially those closer to the stream.  Lots of amenities; fishing pond, water slide and pool, etc.  If you are familiar with the Craft Loop, it s not too far beyond that area.  One of the reasons I like this place is because while it does have the amenities, it s also far enough away from the " chaos"  of Gatlinburg/PF.

I ve also camped once at the PF KOA; it s conveniently located in the heart of PF near the Mill and close to Dollywood.  I ve read good reviews on that cg; but it was just too " close"  to everything (traffic, your neighbors, etc) to be a place I want to go back to.

labontefanI have to agree with Jan. Crazy Horse is ...close enough.....and has lots to do!  It s a really nice campground!!

labontefanGatlinburg Jellystone ....its the best of both worlds!  It is by far our favorite place to camp.  It s out away from the crowds but with all the conveniences.  Really extra nice people that run it, we ve been there so many times they feel like family[:D]
It s a beautiful place.  There is a mountain stream that runs through the campground.  Just about everysite has a stream view.  No better place to sleep..[;)] Our bunk is the one that usually hangs over the stream.  If you consider it and have any more questions just e-mail me if you would like:D]

labontefanThanks, folks! I looked at the Crazy Horse website and it looked really nice. I ll check out the others as well. I m only about 2-3 hours from Gatlinburg so it seemed like a good choice for a long weekend. Also I have some family in nearby Knoxville that might be persuaded to join me...or at least come visit me.

Any other suggestions are welcome also!

mcsullivanHave to agree with mcsullivan. Gatlinburg Jellystone is a very nice place.  We stayed there last May and it was great.  Our site was right on the stream.  Ant the owners were so nice, they do make you feel like family.
