My new trailer came with the RV-Q grill, but to be honest I m rather partial to my little Charcoal grill. The RV-Q does have a nifty mounting bracket that attaches to the side of the camper, and it stands off about 8-9 inches. It s small, but about the same size as my Charcoal grill.

I m curious about others that have these. It s the same grill I ve seen sold with the Rockwood PU s, and several Hybrids. Your opinions?

Gone-CampingHave one on our Starcraft-We like it,and use it almost every trip.I think it would be better if one had more control over cooking temp.(ours does not have a vent in the top,and the flame is controlled by a knob that just has three settings-high,medium,
low).Like most grills, they can be a little bit of a challenge to clean.Watch the grease level, wouldn t want a grease fire close to the trailer canvas.Nice compact unit that puts out plenty of cooking power for our purposes.

Gone-CampingI used mine this past weekend, it came with our new 5th wheel. Neither one of us was impressed. I ll be going back to the tried and true...

Gone-CampingThe Rockwood Roo came with one.  The guy that walked us through the Roo said that when the little metal plate (tent shaped) over the flame burned out after a few uses we should then throw it away and fill the thing with lava rocks.  But when DW wanted to grill some hamburgers on it and we were in a bit of a hurry she said something to the effect that that piece of junk would take all evening to heat up and so she went inside and made the hamburgers.  Now she doesn t even want to hook it up.  Think I ll just keep the " used very little"  high pressure outside stove from my Utah and use it on the Roo.  Of course, will have to change the fitting either on the stove or the Roo so the two will match, but the bracket on the Roo matches.

BTW:  Is that gas line for the RV-Q Grill the same as the " high pressure"  ?  What determines if the line is high-pressure anyway?

To the original question:  Mickey didn t think much of the RV-Q Grill, period.  Me?  When it comes to cooking I m an innocent bystander and could care less how it gets done  [8D]

Gone-CampingI like my RVQ and I don t like my RVQ.  I like how it mounts to the trailer and remains out of the way.  It grills OK -- not like my stainless steel grill at home, but heck, we re " roughing"  it, right?

I tried (this past weekend) to use it with a long griddle for pancakes and such.  It took WAY too long for me to stand there and wait for the pancakes to cook.  I finished up cooking inside.  Won t do THAT again... [: (]

I m guessing it s a low pressure grill.  Can anyone confirm that it s the hookup for gas or is it the appliance?  I guess I should just trace that line and see the type of regulator it goes through...

Actually, I just realized that (for frying with a griddle) if I took the grate out and just put the griddle where the grate should be, it would be closer to the flame and it might cook faster.  I ll let you all know in a couple weeks.

Gone-CampingI like mine for cooking.  It cooks 6 hamburgers at a time or a pack of hot dogs, 4 steaks will also fit on it.  (husband is camping with me next week, I will let you know how much he can get on it, sad but true he does a better job than I do)

I hate the cleaning up part.

Gone-Camping

Gone-CampingHmmmm, mine may be worth more to me if I never take it out of the nylon bag/package! I m inclined not to use it, think I ll stick with my charcoal grill. If I need to cook anything faster, that s what I carry a frying pan for... [;)]
