Camping Coxes

My husband was at work and a guy he barely knows started asking him about our pop-up.  Then he mentioned they have a free weekend at a campground, but no trailer, so he asked, " Do you think I could borrow your trailer?"   My DH didn t bat an eye and responded, " You mean you want to borrow my wife s trailer?  You want me to ask my wife if you can borrow her trailer?"   The guy got the clue.

I looked at my DH and said, " Aw, I m not that bad.  You act like I m obsessive about it or something."   At which point three sets of eyes bore down on me with that look.  My son said something to the effect that I m completely obsessed with the trailer.

Anyone else get accused of being a little too into their trailer and the whole camping experience?  I mean, just because I E-mail daily with a woman I ve never met IRL but know from PUT, and just because PUT is the first site I check out when I go online, and just because I share stories like I know you personally (" Tim said not to unhook before chalking."   " Brian said that campground is the pits." ) I don t think I m obsessed!  [8D]

 Camping CoxesYup, obsessed, Yup!

My trailer, OK what s your point? I clean it, pull it, wash the outside, paid for it. It s mine! All mine, no you can t borrow it. Buy your own! [:@]

And don t ask me to borrow my truck, cause your moving either!

 Naw, I m not obsessed.

I might sort of resemble that! [&:]  Last outing dh was feeding kids and I was taking down the PU.  The guy next to us was amazed that I was doing all the work.  I just said something like the PU is my baby ~ dh and the kids are just along for the ride! LOL [8D]

Just got my second Matchbox pop-up ~ both will camp on top of my computer table ~ far away from little people!  The chirren get a little upset when mom won t share!!  (Check out the new glow-in-the-dark PU [link=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00007JNX2/t/103-9593137-6084666?v=glance&s=toys&me=A3UN6WX5RRO2AG&vi=pictures&img=14#more-pictures]HERE![/link])

I think I m better off not admitting how often I check the boards or keep in touch with PUT members (past and present!) ~ dh reads the boards, too!  [;)]

obsessed  NO, why would we think that [&:]

Our pop-up isn t just a camper, it s part of our family.

Tell your DH to ask this man if he would lend anyone in his family out.  I bet his answer would be NO WAY.  Then let this man know this is why he can t borrow your camper for the week-end.[:D][:D][:D]

Camping CoxesI dissappeared from my son s graduation party to go over to the storage place to show a few of our guest our Pop-Up.  DW wasn t happy about that.  My son wasn t suprised at all.  He actually was suprised that I didn t take longer to show it off.  I think I know what your talking about.  Doesn t feel like I m obsessed, and if I am... IT S OK BY ME !!!!!!!!

Camping CoxesNo you are not obsessed, you are a normal PU owner.[8D]

SheBantam

Camping CoxesI have lent out the popup, but do not ask me to lend my Bantam.

Last week at the Rally, I lent the Jayco to my step-daughter and her husband (and 3 kiddos), did not turn on the AC in the Bantam (Jeffrey did once) because I dod not want the whole group in my Bantam.

You should have seen me jumpiing up and down when they were lowering the popup without swinging up the door first. then I was steaming because people do not listen to me on how to fold the canvas so the roof goes down easily.  It was almost like closing up (I take that back, it WAS like closing up) 2 trailers at the same time (taking down 2 camping kitchens, pulling, tugging, rearranging canvas on the Jayco because some people do not know how to use common sence, even with a master s in engeneering (yeah yeah, I sound like a real mother-in-law).

On the other side of this...I was raised with a popupcamper, it was back in the late 60 s and early 70 s, but mom and I took the starcraft out, set it up, took it down, she pulled and parked. I learned young and did not forget though it was a 30ish year break, so I guess I assume everyone should be able to do what I was raised doing.

Both trailers are mine, the loan for the Bantam is in my name only. The money for the Jayco came out of my savings bonds. Jeffrey can put both together, Raymond does not have a clue. his job is the water hoses. He does not have a clue about the sewer either. he truly does come along for the ride, when he comes. That is OK with me. he mows the lawn at home and trims the hedges (and we have several hundered feet of hedges) so I can go camping. He may even do the laundry to help me out.

Trina, I haven t a clue what you are talking about....the funny thing is...I also email almost daily with a woman I ve never met IRL but know from PUT. Does that make me obsessed also......Gee,the things some of us popuppers have in common!!! Go figure...[:D]--PI

Camping CoxesAnd you guys think you re crazy for emailing  and talking to people you don t even know on the computer about all these camper and camping things....  <snicker> What about those of us who actually met our spouses this way????  [:D]

Opie431

Camping CoxesI thought that was normal.  I told my husband that we would never lend ours altho the first PU camping we did together was with Dr. Frankenstein  PU over thirty years ago.
My husband probably thinks of the PU as his and I let him think that way

And with that, let me introduce Jeanne, my friend from PUT who I E-mail daily!  I have a cybershoulder to unload on about raising my kids (and trying not to kill them!) and to laugh with about their antics and accomplishments!  Thanks Jeanne [:)]!

Acts 2:38 girl

Camping CoxesI know DH consideres the PU " his" , which is OK with me, because we are " one"  !!!  We did lend our pop-up to a family friend who kept it at my parents house, set up in thier yard.  He was burned out of his apartment and was moving here from RI.  He didn t have anyplace else to stay and he s a single man and VERY particular about things, so I knew it was in good hands.  Otherwise I d be telling them to rent one if they really want to try camping!  A PU isn t the strongest thing in the world, we try to be gentle with ours (it is an older one too) and our boys have learned about treading gently in there, not pushing on screens, etc.  I would have a hard time trusting anybody else to be as careful!

brainpause

Camping CoxesOur philosophy sounds a lot like Lee and Andrea s. When we bought the PU, Holly and I made a hard-and-fast rule that NOBODY borrows the PU, not even family. So far, we haven t been asked. At least we have that rule ahead of time that we can quote to people.

I also tell them we don t like to lend it because it is older, has some ins and outs and things that only we know about it. We just know it will be our only PU for at least a couple or three more years, so we are treating it like our baby!

Camping CoxesI lent out MY PU to my nephew for his in-laws to sleep in ONLY.  Took it to his house, set it up.  Came back after they left and took it down and brought it home.(he also only lives five miles from me[;)])

Now wasn t that real nice of me[:D] OH, did I mention that it is in my DH s name only, that s okay with me because he knows IT S MINE[:D][;)]No one gets to take it anywhere without me.

You keep saying that PUT is the first site you check out, it is for me too because it is my home page.  I m not obsessed, just dedicated.
