Can anyone recommend any camp sites in the electric loop of the park?  Sites away from any roads are what I am looking for.  I don t need to be by the bathroom.  Thanks for your help.

 tlhdocHi, Tracy,

Sorry I m just now seeing this - hope it isn t too late. Wish I d seen this when you wrote it because we d just gotten back from there and my mind would be fresher.   I ve never stayed on the electric loop but I did scope it out last year to see what I would chose if we stayed there.  RG s sites are all pretty large; most of the pull throughs have trees in front of them so they are somewhat secluded if that s what you are looking for.  (In fact, I couldn t make out what kind of popup a few people had because it was so secluded.)  The ones along the back of the loop are closer to the beach if you are thinking of walking there.  If you want to avoid " traffic"  I d go toward the back of the loop but since the loops are one way everyone has to drive around the whole loop to come and go.

Anyway, keeping in mind that I made these choices based a lot on shade since we don t have an AC, and that I was looking for larger sites to fit our Bayside, here s what I wrote down as my best picks last year.

1,2,3,4,5,6, 8, 18,20,28  (site 1 and 2 are right at the entrance so closer to the main road)

If I had to chose a site it would be 8 since it is a pull-through, large, and closest to the beach.  I would avoid site 10 because the path runs right into the campsite.

I don t know why I didn t put 11, 13, 15, and 17 on my list last year. They didn t stand out as bad sites when I walked through there this year- maybe they had less shade the first year I went through.

 Good luck!

 Carole

tlhdocThanks for the info.  We did make our reservations and we are on site 11.  It will be after the holiday weekend so I hope not to crowded.  There is a COTOC group camping there Sept. 5th weekend.  If you can join us you you are welcome.
