The Aunt Dot Campground is an invitational campground in far northern New York State. It has just a few sites out in back of Aunt Dot s house.

The number of sites is flexible (perhaps up to three), but I ve never seen more than one in use at a time.  Sites are generally grassy with lots of shady trees.  She has water & electric sites, but you need a looong hose and looong extension cord to reach from the back of the garage to the sites in the back yard.  There are no sewer sites or dump station.  All of the sites are for tents or pop-ups.  No larger trailers are allowed because they leave ruts in the lawn.  There is also a maximum stay, limited to the invitational period.  Overstaying your welcome is considered rude.

Calm & quiet, short-haired dogs are welcome, but long-haired or easily excitable dogs should be boarded elsewhere.  Aunt Dot has a dog that has epileptic-like seizures and excitable dogs tend to stir her up.

The showers and restrooms are immaculate.  You have to cooperate with other relatives to use a shower, however.  There are only two, even though there may be 15-20 people (or more) staying there.  (Aunt Dot also has a small invitational boarding house that uses the same showers.)

You have to be invited to use the campground or the boarding house.  The easiest way to be invited is to marry into the family.  In fact, the 4th of July picnic had 7 adult males, all but two of whom had married into the family.  And one of those two was a roomate.

Note to single guys: The gals are good looking, but they live in the middle of nowhere.  They re mostly taken, but there s a few good ones left...including Aunt Dot!

There s no rec hall or swimming pool, but the living room does have satellite TV.

There is also a great restaurant, Aunt Dot s.  The food is excellent, but it s only open when Aunt Dot feels like cooking.  At other times, it may become someone else s restaurant...Nana s, PJays, etc.  May I suggest whatever everyone else is having.  It s the only thing on the menu, and I guarantee you won t be disappointed.
